Home Security Systems: Affordable Advanced Options - March 24, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

If youre looking for more home security options than ADT or the other Big Guy security systems, you may not have to settle for a drooly dog and the Batman signal there are more affordable options for your piece of mind.

There is a new generation of DIY security options that you should probably learn about these can be used with apartments, so easy to install that you can do it yourself, and there are no contracts and often no monthly fees. You can control the devices from your tablet or smartphone unlike many of the traditional Big Boys, and was the fact that they are affordable mentioned?

Here are the top three along with their prices and features:

iSmartAlarm This security system is known as one the first and best smart security systems. It starts at the $199 of most of these security systems, along with an optional camera for $149 more. The basic system offers motion sensors, contact sensors for doors and windows, panic sirens and more. The optional camera allows you to view your home from your smartphone or tablet and can automatically take pictures upon a break-in.

Canary The Canary of Indiegogo fame starts at $199 and has no use for further add-ons; it has a night-vision-ready camera, temperature, motion and humidity sensors, and an adaptive technology that learns your household movements while allowing smartphone access. According to its creators, it will be available May 2014

Viper Home Viper Home is known for its consistency, and their basic package has no extra fees besides the optional $9.99 a month for an added camera. The fees make it a bit look less than when compared to the fee-free systems, but its integration with automotive security (these are the same guys that make the car alarm that audibly warns Protected by Viper, stand back) and the awesome ability to work during power outages put it on top. ABI Research: Security segment share of smart home market to drop 50 percent by 2019 - March 24, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Home security monitoring vendors continue to enjoy a dominant position in the U.S. managed smart home market, but according to a new ABI Research report, their market share will plummet over 50 percent as a host of new competitors emerges.

The research firm said that one of the key issues is the established monitored security companies' ability to evolve their stance in the market with a broader set of smart home products and services.

"The potential for each vendor in the managed smart home market stems not just from their current offerings but also from their ability to introduce smart home services to new and existing customers. Monitored security has long seen its market penetration stymied and the ability of smart home applications to widen its appeal is uncertain at best," said Jonathan Collins, principal analyst at ABI Research.

Current monitored security vendors, including new entrants like AT&T (NYSE: T), will be faced with making two choices: bundle smart home service with monitored security or create separate, entry-level smart home services for consumers.

Despite the challenges the players will face, the overall managed home service market is sizeable. ABI forecast that between 2013 and 2019, U.S. managed smart home service adoption will grow 37 percent.

Be Your Own Boss; House Doctors Franchise Helps Manager Renew Passion for Business Ownership - March 24, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    (PRWEB) March 24, 2014

Mark Costello a former Civil Engineer and Project Manager is a recent addition to the growing House Doctors handyman and remodeling franchise network. Costello who now offers handyman services in Rockville, Maryland, opened in January, renewing a passion for being his own boss that he discovered earlier in life when he started a small residential repair and remodeling business.

Costello who, through college worked as a carpenter performing finish and trim carpentry for a national new-home builder, earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He'd also worked for several years for state and federal agencies as an engineer and been involved in construction, remodeling, and repair since 1984. So why a House Doctors franchise? Costello said, "In today's world there is much to think about when running a business. Having House Doctor's systems, procedures and support structure in place really does help a lot. The advantage of being a franchisee is that I am allowed to focus on aspects of the business that I can control. For example one of my roles is to make sure my team is producing good quality work for our customers. That takes attention to detail and can be the most important part of any job, regardless of the scale or complexity."

Costello, who has his daughter Elizabeth lending a hand as a Customer Service Representative when she can, had fourteen years of moving around the country with the United States Air Force before he and his family settled in Rockville. He now plans to build a successful home improvement business in the area through offering great customer service. He added, "The residential and commercial property repair, maintenance and improvement markets are growing. At House Doctors, Rockville, we plan to be part of that growth through offering exceptional customer service in both of these markets."

About House Doctors: For more than 15 years, House Doctors, a 90-plus-unit professional handyman service, has brought commercial property owners and homeowners high standards of customer service, reliability, and quality workmanship. Residents on Kirven Avenue arent happy about incoming sidewalks that might damage several trees at least 50 years old, especially after workers dug trenches near the trees more than once.

The sidewalk is part of the Kirven Avenue Neighborhood Reconstruction project that started in September 2013. This project included the replacement of the existing curb and gutter, the existing street pavement, the storm drainage system, the water and sewer systems and the installation of a new sidewalk. Construction expands through Kirven from W. Marvin Avenue to Sycamore Avenue.
