Plumber arrested for multiple home burglaries - March 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    UPDATE:

Mitchell has been awarded additional charges stemming from an August 2013 case.

Mitchell was inside a McCracken County home where, after completing the work the homeowners had hired, Mitchell stole Xanax from the home.

    Original Story:

McCRACKEN Co, Ky - The McCracken County Sheriff's Department has arrested a man after he used his job as a plumber to scout houses and rob them.

Over the past several weeks, various home burglaries had been reported throughout the area. The most recent to be reported was Tuesday at 8155 New Liberty Church Road.

Four firearms were stolen from the home after forced entry.

A neighbor had seen an older model blue Chevy Camaro in the area during the time of the burglary that seemed out of place and suspicious.

Ballard County Sheriff's Department was made aware of the burglary. Late afternoon Wednesday, Ballard County Sheriff's Department located a blue older model Chevy Camaro parked at an apartment in the Barlow community.

Deputies contacted Michael V. Mitchell of Barlow, searched his apartment and vehicle and found multiple pieces of evidence and stolen property that were identified as the items stolen from the multiple different break ins.

Shady plumber on radar of detectives - March 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Created: 03/24/2014 10:12 PM By: Chris Ramirez, KOB Eyewitness News 4

Bernalillo County Sheriffs Office white collar crimes detectives are zeroing in on a plumber accused of fraud who wasfeatured in a recent 4 On Your Side investigation.

In February, KOB-TV exposed how John Montano, owner of Superior Plumbing, is accused of defrauding customers by taking money from them, but never doing the job he was paid to do.

"I personally felt angry enough that I thought he should be arrested and thrown in jail," said Tijeras resident Sandra Schairer who reported getting swindled by Montano.

"I was blown away that he was allowed to commit this kind of theft, said Albuquerque resident Joan Nelson who had a similar incident with Montano.

Bernalillo County White Collar Crimes Detective Russell Telles watched our story, but wasnt surprised by what he saw.

"I had a case last summer covering the same thing your story covered," Det. Telles explained.

In June 2013, Det. Telles secured an arrest warrant for Montano. The victim in that case told investigators that Montano ran her credit card for $2,420 to fix a boiler in her home, but never showed up to do the work.

Det. Telles says the district attorney was hesitant to prosecute the single case. The DA wanted multiple victims with the same story to strengthen the case and show that Montano truly is trying to deceive people.

"On your newscast you had mentioned there were several people who he had also did this too, Det. Telles said. That's why I got in contact with you to see how many victims I have out there."

Rep. Alan Grayson Sends Out Fundraising E-mail Denying He Is a Piece of Nose Slime - March 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Its a rare politician that has to deny allegations they are a piece of nose slime, but for some reason Congressman Alan Grayson did exactly that. The Florida Democrat responded to Joe the Plumber calling him a piece of nose slime over the reported domestic violence incident against Grayson earlier this month.

Joe the Plumber called Grayson a piece of nose slime weeks ago, but Grayson brought it up in a fundraising e-mail this week, decrying it as yet another attack on his character. The e-mail goes out of its way to discredit Joe the Plumber rather thoroughly, calling him a right-wing faker and a dim, dopey, dense, doltish and deficient star.

What does this have to do with fundraising, you ask? Well

And thats really the heart of the matter. Not that Joe the Plumber calls me a piece of nose slime and a dreg of society, but that upwards of one million Tea Party stooges hear those words, and are poised to try to defeat me in November. Which is why I need your help, to fight back.

Oh, and by the way, the picture at the top there, that is the actual picture Grayson used in the e-mail.

Heres part of the full e-mail below:

Pest animals app updated - March 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

AN updated version of a popular free smartphone app to help people identify Australias worst pest animals is now available from the Invasive Animals CRC.

Andreas Glanznig, CEO of the Invasive Animals CRC, said that the innovative and popular Field Guide to Pest Animals app, initially released in mid-2013, now provides iOS mobile device users with information about 53 of Australias worst pest animals, the damage they cause, how to identify them in the field, and what control techniques are available.

The Invasive Animals CRC is looking at developing an Android version in the near future.

Australia has more than 80 vertebrate pest species, the main culprits costing at least $1 billion annually in economic, environmental and social impacts, Mr Glanznig said.

This app contains species descriptions, photos, maps, control techniques and useful links for 53 pest species in Australia, he said.

Some of the many resources accessible through the app include species factsheets, case studies, web-mapping services, and standard operating procedures for pest control.

Peter West, Project Manager with the Invasive Animals CRC and NSW Department of Primary Industries said version 1 of the app had received overwhelming interest with more than 7,000 downloads across Australia by farmers, catchment officers, school students, educators, landcare groups, local government authorities and the general public. He said version 2 is expected to be equally popular.

People can use the app to learn about wild rabbits, wild dogs, foxes, European carp, mice, feral pigs, cane toads, myna birds, feral camels, feral pigeons and many more species.

The app also contains information about what to do if you find a new pest animal, as well as sounds of animal calls and images of footprints, tracks and droppings, which make it easier for users to quickly identify pest animals in the wild.

After the app has been downloaded onto a smartphone, people can access all the species profile information whether they are within mobile phone reception or not, making it a usable tool for rural and remote areas.
