Christy Rounds Up Support for Ranch - October 11, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

crowd turns out in support of new Ranch project.

A standing-room only crowd and elected Laguna Beach officials turned out for a Coastal Commission hearing Wednesday in Newport Beach to support remodeling of The Ranch golf course and hotel in Aliso Canyon, which is now under commission review.

Three elected City Council members, Lagunas city manager, and a former chairman of its planning commission joined Ranch co-owner Mark Christy to lobby for the project during the commissions public comment period.

Im begging you to look at the property, said Christy, urging the commissioners, while they are in the area for their two-day October meeting, to visit. We have nothing to hide.

Though the appeal itself was not on the formal agenda, Christy took advantage of the commissions proximity to organize the rally, sending out an email appeal two weeks ago. He chartered three large private buses for the trek between the Ranch and the neighboring town and handed out Ranch t-shirts to supporters. He aimed to provide a visual demonstration of the publics enthusiasm for what he described as a sensitive restoration project.

No one is being paid, Christy told the commissioners, referring to scores of locals that lined the Newport Beach City Council chambers. This is the way Laguna rolls when they know something is wrong.

The commissioners cannot legally respond to issues raised during the public comment period and remained silent.

The commission rarely sees a rally in favor of a development, pointed out Rob Zur Schmiede, a former chairman of the Laguna Beach Planning Commission, who is running for City Council.

Local 24 Investigates: Millington Roofing Contract - October 11, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - New information this midday about what could have been a potential roofing rip-off in Millington.

You might remember Millington schools put the project on hold after a Local 24 investigation.

The ins and outs of commercial roofing projects may be complicated, but the bottom line is that there is a lot of money at stake. About a million bucks, which is why there is concern over how your tax money is being spent.

Who would have thought a roofing project would have created such a stir.

But Millington residents understand why local contractors would be upset.

The way roof specs were written meant those contractors would not be able to even bid on the job.

"Thats what this country is based on. Free enterprise. Local bidding rights," Millington resident Ray Bouder said.

"What they have sent me is not adding up and its not looking good," county commissioner Terry Roland said.

Roland is talking about the documents he received from Millington schools regarding the roof project.

The e-mails show the school system was working with the architect they eventually hired and the roofing manufacturer whose propriety product was later specified in the bid. Which locked out competition long before Millington Schools signed the design contract with the architecture firm in August.

Roofing for Less, Orillias Leading Roof Installation Company, Weighs in on Recent Solar Panel Installations on … - October 11, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Orillia, Canada (PRWEB) October 10, 2014

Roofing for Less (http://www.RoofingForLess.ca), Orillia, Barrie, Huntsville, Bracebridge, and Gravenhursts leading roofing, siding, and deck installation company, is weighing in on the success of the recent solar panel installation on the National Training Rinks (NTR) in Barrie and the Brampton co-op solar project.

Harnessing solar energy has been a major focus of communities across Ontario and the GTA. Two recent projects that took place late last month show the commitment to renewable solar energy is still strong. The NTR hockey training facility installed 900 solar panels over a few months on the roofs of their rinks to collect and distribute the suns energy into the grid. The Brampton co-op solar project, however, was a bit more complex, with over 2,300 solar panels being installed in the city. (Sources: NTR Scores with solar panel project in Barrie, Simcoe.com, September 24, 2014; http://www.simcoe.com/news-story/4877341-ntr-scores-with-solar-panels-project-in-barrie/; Panjwani, R., Brampton solar installation, a shining example of renewable technology, The Brampton Guardian, September 19, 2014; http://www.bramptonguardian.com/news-story/4870602-brampton-solar-installation-a-shining-example-of-renewable-technology/.)

Our position as roofing contractors in Orillia is to do what we can to contribute to the environment and improve the communities we serve, says Doug Lewis, roofing specialist at Roofing for Less. Like the recent solar installation projects in Barrie and Brampton, we hope to add solar roof installation to the mix of communities looking to solar to help provide renewable energy.

According to Lewis, the Brampton solar panel project is a real indication of how Canada can sustain itself without the need for non-renewable energy. In a previous project, landowners reported air conditioner savings of up to 60%, a huge amount when using a renewable energy source.

We at Roofing for Less are aiming to create a similar impact with our solar roof installation services in Orillia, and its a service we are happy to provide, Lewis concludes. As a top roofing contractor in Orillia, we have really pushed ourselves to help residents save money and reduce their carbon footprint.

Roofing for Less has been installing roofs, siding, aluminium, eaves, decks, fences, windows, and doors for over 35 years. The company proudly serves the Muskoka and Simcoe communities, providing both residential and commercial roofing services. Roofing for Less also serves Orillia, Barrie, Midland, Lindsay, Beaverton, Bracebridge, Newmarket, Gravenhurst, Huntsville, and Oro. Roofing for Less will give an accurate analysis of the condition of a roof and the cost of repairs or a new installation performed by its expert technicians with years of experience that will install the product correctly and in line with the current codes.
