Artist Emma Anna wants you to imagine yourself inside her work literally.

Boca Raton is the U.S. debut city for a traveling sculpture by the Sydney, Australia-born artist. Her work, titled IMAG_NE, is sculpted to look like Scrabble squares with the second I missing.

The goal, she has said, is for the viewer to interact with the sculpture. And she is encouraging people to snap pictures of themselves interacting with the work and post it on social media. For the U.S. stop, the hashtag is #imagineboca.

The city, home to the edgy Boca Museum of Art, celebrated with a free concert and dedication ceremony with the artist, mayor Susan Haynie and West Boca Highs jazz band at the site in Sanborn Square (72 N. Federal Highway) on Oct. 1.

We anticipate that our residents, as well as visitors, will take great joy in having the opportunity to wordplay using their own imaginations, Haynie said in a release.

The sculpture will be at Sanborn Square through mid-November, except for when it moves to Florida Atlantic University from Nov. 11-13 for a special event with New York Times bestselling author Gabrielle Bernstein.

The work was inspired by the Albert Einstein quote, Imagination is more important than knowledge Knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, Anna has said.

It has been traveling the world since debuting as part of Sculpture by the Sea in Bondi, Australia in 2008.

A Columbia Fire Explorer puts out a room burn as part of Sunday's Fire Prevention Week kickoff event.

COLUMBIA -- Hundreds of onlookers were treated to a room burn Sunday as the Columbia Fire Department kicked off National Fire Prevention Week.

Firefighters set two room mockups ablaze, one equipped with a sprinkler system, to show how smoke detectors and sprinklers work. Fire marshal Brad Fraizer said Sunday's event was the first time the department has ever hosted a special event to start the week.

"Fire Prevention Week is a great opportunity for the fire department and the community to focus on fire safety, so we thought this would be a great opportunity to increase community awareness about fire safety," he said.

Columbia resident Neil Vaughn said he is considering getting a sprinkler system after watching Sunday's demonstration.

"Definitely saved everything in there, barring the water damage, but everything could be wiped off and restored versus burned to a crisp," he said.

Fraizer said the department was giving away 500 free smoke detectors as part of Sunday's event.

The player: Glen Davis

The scoop: Davis is a power forward who has been in the NBA for seven season, playing for Boston, Orlando and the Clippers. He won an NBA championship with the Celtics in 2008. He has a career-average of 8.7 points a game, 4.7 rebounds and one assist. In 23 games with the Clippers last season, he averaged a career-low in points (4.2), tied his career-low in rebounds (three) and had a career-low in minutes (13.4).

The recent happenings: Davis says he lost more than 20 pounds over the summer, but at the Clippers' training camp in Las Vegas, Coach Doc Rivers joked that it was an insignificant amount.

"It's like throwing a deck chair off the Queen Mary," Rivers said.

The funny:Davis' nickname is "Big Baby." He was dubbed that when he was a kid, because he was big and would often cry. During his NBA career he has continued to prove his moniker accurate. During a game in 2008, he very publicly cried on the bench after Kevin Garnett gave him some tough love. In 2010, he drooled while celebrating a basket against the Lakers.

The not-so-pretty: Davis' maturity has been questioned throughout his career, and in March of last season, he got into a spat with Rivers during a game against Houston. Rivers sent Davis to the locker room in the second quarter.

"I thought Baby was just too emotional," Rivers told reporters after the game.

Construction crews are completing site work on a new Taco Bell at 10736 Jefferson Ave.

NEWPORT NEWS A new fast-food restaurant will soon join the ranks of an existing bank of similar eateries in the Morrison section of south Newport News.

Taco Bell is currently under construction at 10736 Jefferson Ave. at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Ivy Farm Road, according to city planning and engineering documents.

Construction crews have already demolished the former 40-year-old, 2,351-square-foot building on the 0.53-acre site.

Kim Lee, Newport News spokeswoman, said in an email that site plans for the new Taco Bell were approved with conditions by the city council on Sept.11.

The site was already zoned commercial, which allows for fast-food eateries and retail to be constructed or opened on the property.

Alex Gartsman, who owns the property and operated A. Gartsman Fine Violins on the site for about eight years, said Thursday he recently reopened his violin and music shop at 8 Ivy Farm Road in August after leasing the site for the new restaurant.

Michael Montgomery, a developer with Texas-based Verdad Real Estate Inc., is overseeing the construction of the new Taco Bell.

A set opening date and timeline for construction has not been released.

Montgomery was out of the office Thursday afternoon, and could not be reached for comment.
