Now in its fifth year, the Seven Sheds Brewery Oktoberfest has become a real draw card on the North-West event calendar.

The event is held the weekend after the AFL grand final and features the best of the Seven Sheds beers, gourmet food, wine and local music.

Owner Willie Simpson said the Oktoberfest was designed to be a family friendly affair.

The day is a dedicated family friendly event and a chance for families to relax in our hop garden enjoying some fine Tasmanian fair.

Our tasting centre is open as normal, but we ramp up our outside bar with all our beers on tap, Mr Simpson said.

Cable Station, from Stanley, will be present with its wood-fired pizzas and new for this year, gourmet sausages.

Michael Weatherly Sheds 35 Lbs. – How He Did It - October 3, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

The NCIS star took the summer off his top-rated drama to shed a whopping 35 lbs. from his 6' 2" frame. The actor told PEOPLE that he got so heavy that he "split five pairs of pants" during season 11.

"Here's the skinny," joked Weatherly, 46, who plays Anthony DiNozzo on the CBS series.

"I have two very small children, ages 2 and 1-year-old. That means I had been living with a pregnant lady for a long time. While my wife [Bojana Jankovic] never gave in too much to her Nutella craving, we weren't doing too much. And I found it very hard to say to my wife and children [Olivia and Liam] that I need to spend a couple of hours on me. And the job was demanding."

"This is not an excuse, but the craft-service table is not filled with a lot of super healthy options," continued Weatherly. "Then you get to working late, there's pizza and Chinese food. You try to be good. But while the crew guys are lifting things and pushing things, I just tended to sit at the trough and continue to graze. That's my long-winded way of saying things did get away from me. It reached a tipping point. Even the writers made jokes about Tony needing to go on a cleanse."

At the end of season 11, the actor turned to trainer Juliet Kaska, who encouraged him to cross-train with sports like boxing and swimming in the ocean. "I do it every weekend," he says. "I love it. You become very alive when you are in ocean."

As for his diet, Weatherly pretty much gave up most carbs. "No food that comes from a package like potato chips," he said. "I stayed away from pasta, rice, bread, potatoes anything that's fun to eat, I did not eat. And I pulled way back on alcohol consumption."

911 call sheds light on toddler's death at Orange County motel - October 3, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    ORANGE COUNTY, Fla.

Newly-released 911 calls reveal more details surrounding the death of a toddler at an Orange County motel.

Justin Polk Jr. died at the Countryside Inn on Lee Road in early June and no one has been charged with his death, which has been ruled a homicide.

The boy's mother, Merissa Anderson, and her boyfriend, Jonathan Charapata, remain in the Orange County Jail on charges that they abused Polk's siblings.

"I've got a baby that's not breathing," said Charapata in the 911 call. "He fell off the bed and hit his head."

The 911 call sheds light on what Charapata claimed happened to the 2-year-old.

"Right now, he's nothing, he's not even awake. His stomach is bloated," Charapata told a dispatcher.

But authorities said the 911 call doesn't add up with what the investigation has revealed.

Friends of the couple told Channel 9 they were aware of the alleged abuse of the children.

"I told her, 'You are failing to protect your children. They keep getting hurt and you're not doing anything about it,'" said friend Christina Cotto.

Texas Hospital Record Draws Scrutiny After Ebola Snafu - October 3, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

The Texas hospital that admits it mistakenly sent home a man with Ebola has a spotty emergency room record, with waits well above the national and state averages, according to federal data. In addition, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital has been penalized by the federal government three years in a row for having too many patients who had to be readmitted within 30 days of discharge, although its record in that area is improving.

The 658-bed hospital is under intensifying scrutiny because it sent home Thomas Eric Duncan, a Liberian man who showed up in the emergency room with a fever only to be misdiagnosed and released. Two days later, Duncan returned to the hospital, where he tested positive for Ebola. In the interim, he was contagious and dozens of people may have had contact with him.

The hospital blamed a software error since corrected for failing to transmit a nurse's notation that Duncan was from a virus zone to the doctors who made the decision to discharge him. But data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services show the hospital did not have a sterling record before the Ebola mistake.

In seven categories of emergency room care, Texas Health in Dallas did significantly worse than other hospitals. For instance, the average time patients spent in the ER before being admitted was 352 minutes, compared to 274 minutes around the nation and the state. Similarly, patients who are told they will be admitted spend an average of 170 minutes in the ER waiting for a room, compared to 99 minutes elsewhere. Patients also wait an average of 52 minutes to see a health care professional, double the state and national average.

Texas Health Resources, the parent company of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, said the findings had nothing to do with Duncan's situation and did not represent a staffing problem in the ER. "It's a very busy place," spokesman Wendell Watson told the Dallas Morning News, which first reported the data.

Like many other hospitals, Texas Health has also had to forfeit some funding for the last three years because of patients who were discharged and then had to return. Federal data shows that the penalty rate decreased from .48 percent to .10 percent over the last three years, however, and the hospital was in the middle of the pack for Texas hospitals for the most recent fiscal year.

Netflix Usage On PlayStation, Xbox Is Declining - October 3, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Even though video game consoles are aiming to try and become living room PCs in this new era of tech, theyre starting to face challenges from cheaper alternatives offering many of the same services.

Namely, video game consoles like the PS3 and Xbox 360 were some of the first living room devices to offer an easy to way to watch streaming services like Netflix Netflix. But now the market for that kind of functionality has expanded dramatically, and Netflix usage is down across not only on PS3 and 360, but new-gen consoles like PS4 and Xbox One, and consoles in general.

A study from research firm GfK says that Netflix usage on consoles is down, but up on standalone digital media players and TVs. According to the survey, 28% of Netflix-ers use a device like Roku, Chromecast or Apple Apple TV to watch Netflix in the living room. Thats nearly doubled from 2013 alone when 15% of respondents used those devices. The same is true for internet connected Smart TVs, another 28% of the market, up from 20% last year.

Video game consoles remain on top, with 43% usage, but that number is down 5% from last year, and 20% since 2011, when the majority of living room Netflix consumption was through consoles, given a relative lack of competition.

Netflix may have risen to prominence thanks in part to its partnerships with Sony Sony and Microsoft Microsoft, using their consoles as a main distribution platform for the service, but the shift away from consoles makes sense given the constantly changing market.

Unless you already own one, video game consoles are arguably the least efficient way to use Netflix at the moment. Devices like Roku are smaller and simpler to connect. Chromecast is essentially a $35 USB drive. Smart TVs are perhaps the easiest of all, with no additional hardware required, and little more than a Wi-Fi code needed to get a Netflix app up and running.

Though Netflix usage might be a nice perk of owning a console, its no longer the draw that it once was given the available options. In my opinion its still the best way to consume Netflix, as I enjoy using the controller to navigate on PS4s layout system especially, but thats not enough of a selling point by itself.

In general, video game consoles are going to have a tough time creating this fabled living room PC space they desperately want to occupy, given that most non-gaming functions of consoles can be replicated by other non-gaming, cheaper devices made by big name companies like Google and Apple, in addition to TV manufacturers themselves.

Things are going to start getting very strange in the living room tech space between full-on gaming consoles, non-gaming peripherals like Chromecast and Apple TV, and now odd in-betweens like Amazon Fire TV, and eventually the infamous fleet of Steam Machines. Consoles used to be more or less the only game in town. That may still be true for hardware that plays high quality video games, but not for non-gaming video services.

Sakuramen owner to open new Adams Morgan restaurant - October 3, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Sakuramen owner Jonathan Cho isn't just expanding upstairs:he's also moving down the street. Cho signed a lease on the long-vacant Cafe Lautrec/Cafe Toulouse building at 2431 18th St. NW, where he will open a new pan-Asian restaurant concept.

"Its going to be a varied menu, not a huge one," Cho said. "Were trying to focus on a few things that we like to eat."

Owner Jonathan Cho (white shirt) stands outside Sakuramen on July 5, 2012.

Those things include "Asian comfort foods that people would have grown up," said Cho, who will also take inspiration from Japanese izakayas, Korean barbeque and Korean odeng, a type of fish cake in broth.

As for the bar: "Its not going to be a typical bar," Cho said. "I dont think were going to have any Western alcohol whatsoever."

Cho is still deciding on the restaurant's name.As for theiconicreproduction of the Toulouse-Lautrec portrait ofAristide Bruanton the building's exterior, Cho said it's not going anywhere. "We would love to change it, but the property owner and the city's historic preservation folks seem to really like it and won't allow us to paint over it."

Construction will begin soon, and he hopes to open before the holiday season. The Sakuramen expansion, however, will take longer: There are permitting issues to work out, as well as the construction of a staircase between the subterranean restaurant and the new floor. The extra space, which will add 25 seats to the restaurant, will open by March.

Comeback planned for landmark Lakes Region restaurant - October 3, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

MOULTONBOROUGH The Woodshed Restaurant, a Lakes Region landmark that burned to the ground last Thanksgiving, is coming back in the form of an 1810 barn that will be moved to the site.

And the 40 employees who lost their jobs might find their jobs again when the new Woodshed is completed next year at this time, said Stephen Bradley, a real estate broker from Wellesley, Mass.

Bradleys father-in-law, G. Arnold Haynes, a real estate broker and businessman also from Wellesley, is the new owner. Haynes ate at the restaurant frequently. When he heard it burned, it really broke his heart, Bradley said. He was devastated. And then we found out it was for sale, and it seemed a perfect fit.

The former 2,000-square-foot restaurant was once a 19th-century farmhouse. It opened as the Woodshed in 1979.

We need to find someone to run the restaurant for us, an operator, Bradley said. We want to bring back the Woodshed as much as possible. I would think we would be looking for employees who already know how to work there, too.

The barn, from an undisclosed New Hampshire site, is going to be moved to the property at 128 Lee Road over the next year, he said. We felt we needed a barn to bring back the feel of the old place, so we went out and got one that was built in 1810, Bradley said. Were not announcing where its from yet or any of our other building plans; all we can say is that it will very much resemble and feel like the Woodshed.

Ward DElia of Samyn-DElia Architects P.A. in Ashland will be the lead architect, DElias office confirmed.

Haynes plans to start construction before Thanksgiving on the new restaurant, which he hopes to call the Woodshed or something similar, Bradley said.

The whole thing will likely take a year to build, he said. Theres a lot to do there because of the fire.

Fire investigators said the Thanksgiving blaze started just before 9 p.m. on Nov. 28, an hour after the last employee left. No cause was determined, in great part because the building burned so completely, investigators said.
