STANTON A home sustained moderate damage in a fire Monday night in Stanton, authorities said.
The fire broke out around 6:50 p.m. in the attic of the single-story residence in the 7800 block of Santa Rita Avenue, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi said.
The fire was started by a resident who was improperly using a makeshift open-flame device to eradicate spiders and spider webs in the eaves of the roof, he said, and the device caught some combustible material on fire.
There was fire damage to the homes attic and roof, along with smoke damage throughout the house, Concialdi said. No one was injured.
Thirty firefighters got the fire under control about 7:15 p.m., Concialdi said. The residents were displaced by the fire, he added. It was unclear how many people lived in the home.

Masked thugs armed with a baseball bat and shovel terrorised a student house.
The two men smashed their way through patio doors at the home on Bandy Fields Place in Higher Broughton, Salford.
They then stormed the property and cornered two of the residents, a man and woman both aged 19.
The man was jabbed twice in the head with a shovel as he stood trapped with his housemate. He was later treated for minor injuries.
The other students barricaded themselves into the living room and the intruders gave up and left.
They did not take any money and no demands were made during the attack, at around midnight on Monday, October 27.
After they ran up the road, they paused to smash the windscreen of a nearby car.
The offenders are described as white men in their 20s and wearing dark clothing. Both had their hoods up and had their faces covered during the incident.
Det Con Sue West, of Swinton CID, said: At this stage, we are exploring a number of ideas as to why this particular address was targeted. No property was stolen, and no demands were made.
We have spoken to several witnesses who were there at the time, but we need more people to come forward if they believe they saw two men matching the above description in the area at the time. If you saw anything, or can offer any information to assist, no matter how insignificant it might have seemed at the time, please get in touch. Your call could help us take these men off the streets.

The Saudi Ministry of Labor has rejected reports that Kenya has stopped sending domestic workers to the Kingdom because of the abuse of these workers by their employers. Ahmed Al-Faheed, Saudi Ministry undersecretary for international affairs, said the Kenyan government stopped sending workers to all Middle East countries because it is investigating its own recruitment agencies for human trafficking. He said the Kenyan government has asked all recruitment firms in the country to reapply for their licenses. Al-Faheed denied allegations that the Kenyan government has complained to the Saudi Labor Ministry about the abuse of its workers in the Kingdom. In addition, the Kenyan government did not seek to sign a labor agreement with Saudi Arabia as a condition for lifting the ban, he said. According to a statement from the Kenyan government, the decision was taken to stop the export of all Kenyan workers and cancel the endorsement certificates issued to recruiting offices, to all Middle East countries for the time being, Al-Faheed said. The Kenyan newspaper Coastweek reported on Monday that the countrys Labor Ministry had suspended all recruitment offices in the country. Kenyas Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Services Kazungu Kambi told journalists in Nairobi that the move aims to protect Kenyan migrant workers from exploitation by their foreign employers. Cases of mistreatment of Kenyan workers, particularly house help in the Middle East, has been on the rise and continues to attract international and local attention, Kambi said. All private employment agencies will be required to undergo fresh vetting before they are accredited, he said. Working abroad is the main job opportunity for many Kenyans. Both the Middle East and the Gulf countries are still main work destinations for them to earn a good income. Nonetheless, exporting labor to these regions faces many challenges, he said. The Kenyan press has recently highlighted the conditions of the countrys workers abroad, most recently a story by the newspaper Standard Digital about a Kenyan family alleging that their daughter has been abused in Saudi Arabia. Jane Wangari said that her daughter, Virginia Wanja, 24, arrived in the Kingdom in June this year, and has allegedly been locked up. Wangari said the recruiting agency in Kenya had promised her a job as a computer teacher at a college. However, when Virginia arrived in the country, she was forced to work as a domestic worker for SR419 a month. My daughter decided to escape from her employer and went to the nearest police station to seek help so that she could return to her country, but was arrested and jailed for escaping from her employer, Wangari was quoted as saying.

President Barack Obama delivers a statement regarding U.S. health care workers responding to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, prior to his departure aboard Marine One from the White House South Lawn. October 28, 2014. (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza)
Watch on YouTube
Speaking on the South Lawn of the White House today, President Obama provided an update on America's comprehensive response to end the Ebola outbreak. So far, of the seven Americans treated for Ebola, all have survived. Only two people have contracted Ebola on American soil -- the two Dallas nurses who treated a patient who had contracted the virus in West Africa. And the only American still undergoing treatment is Dr. Craig Spencer, who contracted the disease abroad while working to protect others.
The President saluted his service and the service of all those men and women who are working tirelessly to stop Ebola in its tracks. "We know that the best way to protect Americans ultimately is going to stop this outbreak at the source," he said. "And I just had the privilege of speaking with some of the men and women who are working to do just that -- our Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) on the ground in West Africa."
From increasing the number of Ebola treatment units and burial teams to expanding the pipeline of medical personnel, equipment and supplies to launching an aggressive education campaign in-country, American health care workers in Africa are the "strategic and operational backbone of America's response" to the virus.
These are the folks that, from the minute that we saw this Ebola outbreak growing larger than we had seen traditionally, were deployed, were on the ground, and were helping to coordinate the countries where the outbreak is happening to make sure that the response was effective.
And it's typical of what America does best -- when others are in trouble, when disease or disaster strikes, Americans help. And no other nation is doing as much to make sure that we contain and ultimately eliminate this outbreak than America.
Their dedication and hard work is starting to pay off, as the essential public health infrastructure is strengthening. As we work to fight the epidemic at its source, it's critical that we maintain our vigilance at home.
We're going to need to make sure that our doctors and our health care professionals here in the United States are properly trained and informed and that they are coordinated if and when an Ebola case crops up here in the United States. But whats also critically important is making sure that all the talent, skill, compassion, professionalism, dedication and experience of our folks here can be deployed to help those countries deal with this outbreak at the source.

With everything the good folks in Prattville have to do each day (walking the dog, getting their children off to school, mowing the lawn, changing the oil in the car), the Ku Klux Klan would like them to add one more item to their to-do list join their group.
Over the weekend recruitment fliers were distributed throughout Prattville originating from a Missouri based KKK organization. You may recall that the KKK was in Tallassee as recently as July doing the same thing recruiting.
If we want to build a nation of people who support inclusiveness, kindness and fairness to all then together and united we must stamp out groups like this that do nothing but drive wedges between these same people.
So we'd like to again send a message to these white hooded, cross burning, hate mongering Missouri based KKK folks save your paper, ink and the gas. If any of us in Alabama, for any reason, are so inclined to join your group we'll be in contact.

Under the accrual accounting method, revenue is recognized and reported when a product is shipped or a service is provided. If there are expenses incurred to provide a product or service, those expenses must be matched with the period in which the revenue was recognized.
What Is Accrual Accounting?
Accrual accounting refers to an accounting method used to gauge a company's performance by recognizing economic events and not necessarily cash transactions. Economic events include the provision of goods and services that might not be paid for immediately; for instance, a lawn mowing company mows a client's lawn but does not expect payment for some time, yet the event is recognized as soon as the service is completed.
Accrual accounting attempts to present a more accurate reflection of a company's current condition by anticipating future cash inflows or outflows. This is in stark contrast with the cash-basis method of accounting, where revenue is recorded only after payment is received.
Revenue Recognition Principles
Since revenue is recorded and reported only when services are rendered under accrual accounting, and not when cash is received, there are considerations for the uncertainty of payment occurring. This uncertainty is reflected in an allowance for doubtful accounts, which attempts to estimate the amount that customers fail to pay.
In cases where payment is received prior to services being provided, accrual accounting dictates that the payment be initially recorded as a liability. The company then recognizes the payment as revenue only after the good or service is provided.

Marine manufacturing is a $6 billion industry that's critical to the economic landscape of Wisconsin, according to experts.
About 3,200 people, with two-thirds located in the northeastern part of the state, hold jobs in marine manufacturing. The industry has grown locally and has largely remained local, with most of the money staying in the area, said Jeffrey Sachse, a state labor economist. The average salary of a marine manufacturing worker is between $46,000 and $58,000 per year, he said.
"If you are a first-class welder, you could make $70,000 to $80,000. If you are a finish welder at Marinette Marine, you can make closer to $90,000," Sachse said. Many Wisconsin boat makers either share ownership or are in separate markets so there is little competitive overlap, Press-Gazette Media (http://gbpg.net/1tBwekS ) reported.
"It's really been an industry, as is the case with a lot of manufacturing sectors in the state, where they benefited from attrition elsewhere," Sachse said. "It's down to two or three companies nationally that do what they do. We can meet a lot of market needs with two or three producers, and we have them."
Long-term orders and contracts are commonplace and help keep the industry stable. Luxury yacht contracts are one of the most appealing because they often entail a year to two years of work, according to Curt Prokash at Manitowoc-based yacht builder Burger Boat.
Marinette Marine Corp. is the largest marine employer in the state, with six U.S. Navy Littoral Combat Ships currently under construction. Two more of the ships are slated to begin being built next year, and other related work will continue through 2019.
"We hire a lot of our workforce in the regional area," said Jan Allman, president and CEO of Marinette Marine Corp. "We have about 2,000 people in our yard daily, and since 2009 we've hired, directly, more than 600 workers . We are one of the key economic development players for this area."
Wisconsin marine companies have joined together to form North Coast Marine Manufacturing Alliance. The goal is to produce a larger pool of laborers who are recruited from high schools and technical colleges.
