TAMPA Mumbai police arrested a 26-year-old man wanted in the murder of South Tampa interior designer Wendy Albano in an overseas hotel room two years ago, newspapers in India report.
Albano, 51, a socialite who decorated homes for the rich and famous, was slain in her room at a chic hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, in February 2012.
Authorities began looking for an Indian man they suspected had stabbed her to death.
According to a report Tuesday in the Indian Express, police arrested Ritesh Singhvi, who authorities said had left the country for India hours after Albano's body was discovered.
"I think that there was a huge concern that he would just disappear, and that there wouldn't ever be any justice for her," said friend Maxine Stull of Tampa.
Singhvi had grown a beard and was living under an assumed name in a rented house when authorities caught up with him, the Indian Express reported, quoting a law enforcement official.
Singhvi had befriended Albano in 2010 through Facebook and she had gone to India to meet him twice between 2010 and 2012, the newspaper stated.
The two have been described as business partners. She had met Singhvi's family on a trip to India while trying to launch a design and fashion-import business.
Singhvi will be extradited to Bangkok, according to the Times of India newspaper.
At the time of her death, Albano had been living in a condo off Bayshore Boulevard with her six cats: Bobo, Bebe, Lily, Rudy, Philly and Nelson.

Interior designer and Philippine School of Interior Design professor Pojie Pambid (far left) is joined by some of the young, creative minds behind Globalscapes, an exhibit presented by the PSIDs graduating batch. Photo by Teddy Pelaez, InterAksyon.com.
Soak in a tub while enjoying the view of Turkeys skyline. Dine as you witness glory of South Africas sunset. Pick a great bottle of wine from an Egyptian-themed cellar.
Envision these and other rarefied scenarios at Globalscapes, this years thesis presentation of graduating students of the Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID). Ongoing at the Super Sale Hall of SM North EDSAs The Block in Quezon City, the exhibition has the participation of 105 aspiring interior designers who conceptualized and created 22 living spaces inspired from various countries across the five continents.
We want the audience to travel to a country and re-imagine what makes it truly distinct, interior designer Nicky Jardenil, professor and exhibit advisor told InterAksyon.com in an interview. With globalization, there is an easy exchange of information that makes design influenced by different inspirations. That was our starting point for this exhibit; (the designs) should have an influence from each country.
Interior designer and PSID faculty Pojie Pambid shared that the students formed groups of three and drew lots for their country assignments, along with parts of the house they would render. They were initially daunted when they drew an unfamiliar country, Pambid related. But eventually, throughout the course of research, we were able to fine tune everything.
The goal wasnt to reproduce traditional homes of the assigned countries, but to reinterpret them. The translations are not literal, (merely) subtle details here and there. Its still really an exercise in interior design with a country as a focal point. We challenged them to have designs that the audience has not seen before.
This year we wanted to pick the brains of our students in terms of creating a smaller world by making design a universal language. Instead of given them the usual design themes, we wanted them to use design as a tool using the history, culture, material, customs of these people and mixing them all together in a very contemporary setting. Every year PSID takes it upon itself to really challenge students and present what will eventually be benchmarks (in the industry).
Globalscapes also marks the final requirement of the current batchset to graduate in Novemberand is an eye-opener of sorts for them. Says Pambid, who is also PSIDs director for external affairs: This is the first time they are dealing with contractors and suppliers. The exhibit teaches them to have results that are translatable to people, (while working with materials) that can be sourced or made locally to also provide work opportunities for weavers, carvers, and carpenters.
Visitors to the exhibit can take in a myriad of design inspirations and cues from Asia, Africa, North and South America, and Oceania while marveling at the prowess of the countrys next crop of interior designers from the halls of the PSID.

Albany, NY (PRWEB) September 30, 2014
Most people have a favorite season of the year but it seems that almost everyone enjoys the fall. It is the time of the year for picking apples, enjoying beautiful fall foliage and harvesting of crops. Temperatures become more pleasant and perfect for outdoor bonfires and hayrides. However, dropping temperatures also trigger a need for many pests to begin searching for a place of refuge from the long, cold winter months.
Rodents, cockroaches, ladybugs, cluster flies and spiders are just some of the pests that begin seeking shelter from harsh winter weather. As outdoor temperatures begin cooling down, warm homes become very enticing to pests. While some insects like the Monarch butterfly will migrate to warmer climates, others will seek shelter in the comfort of your home and hibernate for the winter.
These unwanted, uninvited pests not only come in to escape cold temperatures, they also bring with them the risks of physical damage to property as well as spreading of diseases. Rodents, for example, are carriers of diseases like Salmonella and Hantavirus. They also pose a risk to the physical structure of the home by gnawing through walls and chewing into wiring, posing a risk of house fires. Cockroaches not only spread disease, they trigger asthma attacks. Some spiders like the Brown Recluse will bite if threatened and cause very threatening sores. Ladybugs and cluster flies arent as serious of carriers of disease but are extreme nuisances and very hard to control.
The logical answer to these fall pests is to stop or prevent the invasion from happening. There are several things one can do to pest proof your home during this time of year. Following these 6 tips will do much in preventing these uninvited pests from invading your home.
1. Remove all sources of food and water by storing food in sealed containers and removing water supplies by removing standing water inside or outside of the home and repairing any leaking pipes. 2. Place screens over all vents and chimney openings. 3. Install fresh door sweeps on exterior doors and repair any damaged screens. 4. Seal all cracks around windows, doors and utility entrances. 5. Trim tree branches and shrubbery away from the roof and outside walls of the home. 6. Keep firewood stored a good distance away from the house.
While these preventive steps will be very helpful, dont hesitate to contact your local, licensed pest professionals, the moment you discern a problem with fall pests. It's always best to get to the root of the problem before you find a full blown infestation in your home.
Thomas Pest Services is a leading pest control company in the Albany area that can provide safe and effective pest control services to eliminate the pests you have now and prevent future infestations.
