SALT LAKE CITY LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson said in October that he expected to dedicate or rededicate five new temples in 2015.
Seventeen days into the new year, he effectively has checked the boxes on the first four.
The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Saturday that public open houses and dedications of new temples in Indiana and Peru will be held this summer.
The Indianapolis Indiana Temple and the Trujillo Peru Temple will be the third and fourth new temples to open in 2015. Last month, the church announced open house and dedication dates in the spring for temples in Crdoba, Argentina, and Payson, Utah.
The public open house for the Trujillo Temple will run every day except Sundays from May 8 through May 30. A cultural celebration is scheduled on June 20 and the temple will be dedicated in three sessions on June 21.
The Indianapolis Temple will be open to the public every day except Sundays from July 17 through Aug. 8. A cultural celebration is scheduled Aug. 22 and the temple will be dedicated in three sessions on Aug. 23.
During the church's April 2014 general conference, President Monson said the LDS Church would take a break from announcing plans for new temples to concentrate on completing the 28 temples already announced or under construction.
President Monson announced the Trujillo Temple in 2008 and ground was broken in 2011. He announced the Indianapolis Temple in 2010 and ground was broken in 2012.

The Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center has reopened following a series of renovations made to address critical safety and security issues at the historical resource depository in Liberty, Texas. Repairs and upgrades were made possible in part by funds awarded from a $1 million appropriation by the 83rd Texas Legislature to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC).
The 127-acre historical complex was closed to the public for nearly two months while updates were made to the facilities including the replacement of flooring in the reading room and the removal of hazardous asbestos and installation of exterior safety lighting.
Supplementary funding provided by TSLAC permitted for the refurbishment of existing square footage and allowed for increased seating options in the reading room in order to make room for additional computer work stations for use by visiting patrons and researchers.
We are pleased to reopen our doors to the people of Southeast Texas who count on the Sam Houston Center as a cornerstone of their own historical and genealogical research, said Manager Alana Inman, The improvements to our facility not only mean an enhanced experience for our patrons, but the technological and safety improvements also allow our staff to better serve our clientele.
The complex serves as the official regional historical resource depository for the ten Southeast Texas counties of the historic Atascosito District (Chambers, Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Newton, Orange, Polk, San Jacinto and Tyler counties). The Center houses historical records and artifacts and includes a complex containing the Jean and Price Daniel Home and Archives; and four relocated historic buildings.
Future improvements to the grounds, scheduled for 2015, will include the installation of a new security gate and fencing, widening and repaving of roadways and the construction of a parking area and handicap entrance for the Daniel Home.
The Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center is part of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. The Center is located at 650 FM 1011 in Liberty, Texas. For more information, please call 936-336-8821 or visit http://www.tsl.texas.gov/shc/.

Each year, thousands of Arizona residents email or call Rosie Romeros radio show with questions. His goal is to provide answers that suit the specific lifestyle wherever someone lives in Arizona. Here are questions about home maintenance and improvement from the Southern Arizona area.
Q: I just had engineered, hand-scraped wood flooring installed in six rooms of my house to replace my carpeting. I feel as if I am walking on a piece of furniture. But dust is building up regularly on the floors. So I need to know how to keep them clean.
A: When you make the switch from carpeting to hardwood, you might think that everything is getting a lot dustier than before. Its really not; its just more evident when you see the dust on the hardwood. So use a dry dust mop regularly on those hardwood floors. You might even want to spray a wood cleaner on the mop or a cleaning cloth before you dust. But dont get the hardwood wet; dont mop with a pail of water.
If the dust really bothers you, you might also want to have your air ducts vacuumed out by a professional cleaning service that knows how to do it right. You also want the duct cleaners to vacuum the coils of your heating and cooling equipment. With hardwood floors, its also a good idea to have door mats both inside and outside of every exterior door.
Q: We have a two-level condominium that was built in the 1970s. Our deck is part of the roof of the carport down below, and lately, during the heavy fall rains, we experienced many leaks. In particular, we have a sliding patio door that goes out to the deck and water is seeping into the house from around the door. Who can do that type of repair?
A: Probably, youll need a remodeler or a roofer. Either one could fix the seal around the door. However, if the slider is that old, you might consider replacing it completely. Call a reputable window and door replacement company for help.
Q: I have a double-wide carport that has one big post right in the middle that holds up two beams in the roof overhead. That post is in the way of everything; is there any way I can get rid of it?
A: You can get rid of it, but you need to add a single beam, properly sized for the load it will have to carry. New support posts also need to be installed under each end of the new single beam. These new posts cannot just sit on your 4-inch deep carport slab. You probably have to use footings that measure 24-by-24 inches in area and that are 18 inches deep. This is a project that should be addressed and designed by a licensed structural engineer and undertaken by a qualified remodeling contractor.
Q: Should we cover the two wind turbines on the roof of our house so that we stop heat from escaping and thus keep down the cost of our heating bill?
A: You probably wont be able to tell the difference, and it wont make any significant impact on your energy bills. And besides, reducing the ventilation in your attic area will have serious, long-term implications. So leave the turbines in place; they are providing a valuable service.
