ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau and a metro-area hotel group appear to be mending fences.

The Albuquerque Journal (http://goo.gl/fxgHNX ) reports that tensions between the bureau and the Greater Albuquerque Innkeepers Association appear to have eased since the hotel group expressed no confidence in the top bureau executives.

The hotel groups board said Thursday it is working cooperatively with the bureau, and the two groups issued a statement saying their representatives had met and aired their concerns.

The statement also said the groups are now committed to working together.

The hotel groups board had sent the bureau a letter in February that said in part that some top bureau executives had been heard expressing negative attitudes toward the Albuquerque market.

Tony Paley: Trainer Enda Bolger has given On The Fringe the go-ahead to run in the Fox Hunters Chase over the Aintree Grand National fences in three weeks time.

The JP McManus-owned 10-year-old romped home in the Foxhunter Chase at the Cheltenham Festival by 17 lengths last week, and will now attempt to complete what has become a rare double.

Bolger told the Irish Independent: He came home in great nick. Hopefully we will be heading to Liverpool with him. We are giving him a fortnight chilling out and we will start him back for Liverpool then.

Liverpool was on our agenda at the beginning of the season because it looked like the obvious race for him. I dont know whether it is because he has got older and more experienced, but he definitely seems to be seeing out his races better this season than ever.

Never listen to tips. Put your fingers in your ears and believe your own eyes. Thats sound advice but in the first at Newbury we do have a horse in Champagne Express (2.10) who qualifies on both counts. Theres a lot of talk in Lambourn about how this was has been working well in preparation for todays run, while his victory in a very decent Chepstow maiden makes him the pick on the figures here.

The best bet of the day is on the level in the shape of Mignolino (3.55) at Lingfield. The David Barron runner is due to go up 6lb for his latest outing and considering the competitive nature of the event he is a fair price given what he has achieved.

As spring officially begins, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is warning Ohioans to be wary of solicitors who offer roofing, driveway paving, or tree trimming services and demand upfront payment.

Spring is a good time to make home repairs, but its also a time to watch for scams, DeWine said. If someone comes to your door offering goods or services, ask for references and take time to think about it. If they pressure you or demand large upfront payments, it could be a scam. Be very careful before handing over your money.

In 2014, the Ohio Attorney Generals Office received more than 2,500 complaints about household goods or property improvement. The office also filed 14 civil lawsuits and pursued several criminal cases involving home improvement.

To help Ohioans protect themselves, DeWine encouraged consumers to look for signs of a potential home repair scam, including:

Requests for a large down payment. If you have to pay half or more of the total price in advance, be skeptical. Scam artists often try to pressure consumers to make large down payments before any work is started. Requests for cash payment. Be wary if you are told you must pay in cash versus other forms of payment. If something goes wrong, it will be difficult to recover cash payments. No notice of your right to cancel. In Ohio, consumers generally have a three-day right to cancel a contract that results from a door-to-door sale. Under the Home Solicitation Sales Act, sellers are required to notify consumers about this right. Work that will begin immediately. If someone offers to perform work on your home right away, be skeptical. Some traveling scam artists claim they have leftover materials or that they just happened to be in the neighborhood, but after taking consumers payments, they leave without doing any work or after doing a poor job. No written contract or references. If a contractor wont provide you with a written contract detailing the costs, the work to be done, and the starting and end dates, consider doing business with someone else. Also be skeptical if a contractor refuses to provide references of past customers.
