Report: Celtics Plan to 'Swing for the Fences' in Free Agency This Summer - March 4, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

The Celtics haven't made a big splash in NBA free agency for the past few summers, primarily due to a lack of salary-cap space. After Danny Ainge's wheeling and dealing this season, Boston will have significant room to spend this July and will reportedly be eyeing some major moves.

Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders reports that the Celtics will "swing for the fences" in free agency, targeting a number of prominent names, including Kevin Love and Greg Monroe, as well as some long shots such as Marc Gasol, Kawhi Leonard, and Jimmy Butler.

The Celtics may not even have a chance to make a run at Love. The Cavaliers' power forward told the Cleveland Plain Dealer back in January that he had no plans to opt out of the final year of his contract next season and become an unrestricted free agent.

Gasol, Leonard, and Butler are all likely to re-sign with their current teams as well, if they hit the market at all. Leonard and Butler are restricted free agents, so the Spurs and Bulls can match any offer that either player receives.

The most realistic name on this list for Celtics fans to keep an eye on is Monroe. The Pistons' power forward will be an unrestricted free agent and Boston has been rumored to have interest in him for years.

The Celtics will have the necessary salary-cap space (over $20 million) to make a max offer to any of the players mentioned above. The C's will also have a bevy of future first-round picks, and two sizable trade exceptions, that will enable the team to explore sign-and-trade deals with any players on the open market.

Whatever route the Celtics end up taking, look for Ainge to be active with the team's new-found flexibility. And those fireworks co-owner Wyc Grousbeck talked about last summer? They may be surfacing in July...just a little later than most expected.

Crocodile farm makes a snappy return after cyclone - March 4, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

FENCES broken, crocodiles missing and no electricity; John Lever had his work cut out for him in the wake of Cyclone Marcia.

The Koorana Crocodile Farm owner's first priority was to ensure his reptiles were safe.

"There were only about 10 crocs out and we've caught them all so far; they were only two to three footers," John said.

"We found them within the farm and found two more crocs in the creek."

Loss of power has impacted the business financially, with crocodile meat and eight tonnes of crocodile food thrown out.

John saved the crocodile skins by sending them to Brisbane to stay in a chilled room. Along with damage and loss of products, they lost a week of trading.

The crocodile park opened its doors this week but had only 15 people walk through on Monday.

"This time of the year we get close to 50 people a day; the closure will set us back financially," John said.

Klarman Hall Construction Scheduled for 2016 Completion - March 4, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

    ByCHRISTOPHER BYRNS

The construction of Klarman Hall is now slated to be completed by Jan. 13 2016, falling behind its original goal, according to KyuJung Whang, vice president for facilities services.

The project has been tracking about a week behind schedule, Whang said. The current forecast is about nine days behind schedule, but the Cornell team and the contractor are looking for opportunities to make up time.

The 33,250-square-foot building, which will connect to Goldwin Smith Hall, will be Cornells first new building for the humanities since Goldwin Smith opened in 1905.

According to Whang, workers will install glass for the buildings atrium in mid-April, if the weather cooperates. East Avenue which has been closed to through traffic because of the construction since January 2014 will reopen for two way traffic next month, Whang said.

Mechanics, electricians and plumbers are working together with construction workers to complete the project, according to Whang. Currently, workers are preparing to put wall studs in the north block and finish the drywall in the south block.

Most recently, General Contractor Welliver McGuire finished installing the steel truss, which will support the buildings glass atrium.

In addition to the installation of the glass for the atrium, Whang said students can expect to see work on the interior of the building this semester.

Completion of steel and beginning of installation of glass for the atrium [is scheduled for this semester] as well as the continued interior work roughing in mechanical and electrical systems, piping, fire protection and drywall, Whang said. Curtain wall and other framing for glazing and glass will also be installed [this semester].
