Four roofing companies and two supervisors in the province have been charged under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for incidents in 2012 and 2013, it was announced today.

According to a Service NL news release, there were no injuries in any of the incidents which occurred in Stephenville, Grand Falls-Windsor, Conception Bay South, St. Johns and Mount Pearl.

Charges laid include:

The owner of Flynns Roofing, Siding and Masonry is facing four charges for violating fall protection regulations at three different locations in Stephenville in December 2012 and September 2013

All Systems Roofing Ltd. in Grand Falls-Windsor is facing two charges for violating fall protection regulations, and the supervisor of All Systems Roofing is charged for failing to ensure workers wore protective equipment. Both incidents occurred in October 2012 in Grand Falls-Windsor.

Yetmans Shingles Ltd. is facing six charges for violating fall protection regulations and failing to provide necessary supervision to workers at three locations in Conception Bay South and St. Johns. The incidents occurred in September 2012, April 2013 and June 2013.

Red Seal Roofing Ltd. is facing six charges for violating fall protection regulations and failing to provide necessary supervision at locations in Mount Pearl and St. Johns. A company supervisor is charged for failing to ensure that workers under his supervision at those locations used protective equipment. These incidents occurred in August and October 2013.

The first appearance for Flynns Roofing, Siding and Masonry was March 24 in Stephenville with the next court date set for June 2.
