An apparent electrical fire that broke out at an Orkin pest control storage building on College Street in Beaumont was contained Thursday morning, authorities said.

No injuries were reported.

The storage building contained paper records and pest traps, but no chemicals, Beaumont Fire Department Captain Earl White said.

The fire appeared to start by accident and seemingly originated from the building's electrical system, White said.

Beaumont firefighters in several engines responded at 8:58 a.m. to 5475 College Street in Beaumont.

By 9:30, firefighters were milling around and a department fan was blowing into the front side of the one-story, vinyl-sided building.

The building at College Street does contain chemicals, but the fire did not spread from the storage facility behind it, White said.

Beaumont police blocked eastbound traffic at Lindbergh Drive and westbound traffic at 23rd Street. Traffic is open in both directions.
