At least 19 families whose houses were demolished in Quezon City's Payatas district Thursday spent the night at the area's covered court, even as demolition teams resumetheir work Friday.

The families were given a choice of relocating to Rodriguez town in Rizal province or to avail of in-city relocation, radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported.

But the report said many of the families were wary of a supposed P2,500 fee that accompanies the in-city relocation.

Many shanties in the city's Payatas district were demolished on Thursday, but not before a violent confrontation between residents and the demolition team.

Some people were injured while traffic in the area was snarled during the confrontation, though the demolition pushed through.
