Q: Dear Ed: I almost fell off my chair recently when I saw Jay Leno mention one of your articles on "The Tonight Show" in his "Headlines" segment. Being a fan of both Jay and yourself, I laughed out loud. On a serious note, I found the subject matter of installing a home water fountain very interesting. Since I missed that column, can you please go over some of the points that the article covered? Paul, N.Y.

A: I received a lot of feedback regarding the "Tonight Show" mention of our Scripps Howard News Service plumbing column. Those who missed the show can go to eddelgrande.com for a link to the video.

On top of my surprise appearance on the show, I was also surprised at the interest many homeowners have about installing a home water fountain. Some things to consider:

- Home water fountains are great for busy households and can eliminate the mess of extra cups and reduce congestion at the kitchen sink and/or refrigerator water dispenser.

- A basic wall-hung china water fountain with a filtered supply line should fit the bill for most families.

- Also, installation height and location can be flexible for everyone in the family to enjoy. Just be sure your plumber pulls a permit and follows local codes.

Bottom line: You can really drink up a lot of benefits by installing a home water fountain!
