POLICE have stepped up patrols after a spate of break-ins to allotment sheds in Thornbury.

Eight sheds at the Daggs allotments at the top of the High Street had their locks forced between midday on Tuesday and midday on Wednesday of last week, with thieves making off with just one gas bottle.

Neighbourhood PCSO Dawn Golding is giving allotment holders crime prevention advice following the incident.

Neighbourhood officers will also be carrying out extra patrols in the area.

PCSO Golding said: "The allotment holders don't keep any power tools in the sheds as there is no electricity at the site.
