DOZENS of sheds and cars have been broken into in just three weeks in a mini crimewave in Wrington.

Police have received 41 reports of burglaries and thefts in the Wrington and Redhill area since January 10 - 21 of which have happened since last Friday.

Thieves have been targeting insecure sheds and vehicles and one property was also broken into.

Police have now upped patrols in the area and have handed out hundreds of crime prevention letters across the village.

It is understood that the crimes are being carried out by a gang or group of villans which have been targeting the village.

A police spokesman said: "We are currently investigating a number of burglaries and thefts in the Wrington and Redhill areas.

" Most of the crimes have targeted insecure sheds and vehicles.

"In response to this we have increased our patrols in the area using local staff and also using road policing officers and dog handlers.

"The local neighbourhood team and police cadets have delivered more than 300 crime prevention letters to local homes and the mobile police station has visited the affected areas."
