The project will include pedestrian connections to the ports redevelopment area to the west, Valk said. The port project is expected to begin construction in 2022, according to port CEO David Ripp.

With Ninebark, we envision a sustainable, equitable and accessible waterfront community that offers an experience, with access to nature and amenities alike, that is unlike anything else in the market, Killian Pacific director of development Michi Slick said in a statement.

Slick said the company expects Southwest Washington to continue to be a popular moving destination due to job growth, schools and the tax advantage over Oregon.

The units will be designed to provide large living spaces, according to the press release, because the company foresees a higher proportion of people working from home even after the COVID-19 pandemic ends.

The project will include a freestanding clubhouse building with views of the Columbia River and Mount Hood, which will include a fitness center and a shared gear shed for bikes, kayaks and other outdoor equipment, according to the press release.

The presentation also mentioned a community library, catering kitchen and barbecue pits, and outlined plans for a 1.2-acre park area along the south edge of the property that would include a public lawn, multiple gardens and art installations.

Killian Pacific is known for several prominent projects around Portland, particularly in the citys inner east side, as well as The Hudson office building in downtown Vancouver and the Grand Central commercial complex to the east. It also owns the Columbia Business Center south of Highway 14.
