Architects, builders and consulting civil engineers cleaned the city bus stand at Gandhipuram here on Sunday, as part of the Clean India Campaign.

V. Unnikrishnan, convener for the initiative here, said about 120 architects, builders and engineers were supported by nearly 50 volunteers of Round Table 31.

Staff from Coimbatore Corporation and local shop keepers joined the organisers in the cleaning drive.

The cleaning went on for about four hours on Sunday morning. We plan to organise similar cleaning drive once a month at a select public place, he said. Some of the commuters also joined us, he added.

The programme was organised by the local chapters of the Builders Association of India, Indian Institute of Architects and Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) and the Round Table.

We were inspired the campaign launched by the Prime Minister and wanted to do something similar in Coimbatore, he said.
