The Chamber of Architects feels that more could have been done in the budget for 2013, as the measures proposed have been limited to properties of a certain value and not opened up to all properties.

"We hope that this will change in the future," the President of the Chamber of Architects, Vincent Cassar, argued with di-ve.com.

Couples or persons purchasing the first residential home and taking out bank loans will be able to provide the bank architect property valuation according to the 2013 budget.

Douglas Salt, council member of the Federation of Estate Agents is quite happy with the proposed budget measures with regards to property taxation. "The government used to send its own architects who would over-value property meaning that higher taxes had to be paid regardless of how the bank had evaluated the property in order grant a loan, and this wasn't fair. If this new legislation is implemented, the government will have to stand by the banks' recommendations."
