WATERTOWN, Mass., July 1, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- BlueMetal Architects and Jornata today announced that the companies have entered into a definitive merger agreement.

The companies are leaders in helping their clients succeed with business and technology consulting services specifically focused on custom application development and information management.

Both companies, founded by ex-Microsoft technology executives, provide technology strategy and architecture that leading companies in Boston, New York, and Chicago rely on when developing their technology roadmaps and modernizing their most mission-critical applications.

The merger brings together BlueMetal Architects, an interactive design and technology architecture firm with a team of the most experienced consultants in the industry, with Jornata, a leader in the collaboration, information management, and business intelligence space.

"With this merger, our clients will get the best of both worlds," said Craig Dillon, BlueMetal's President. "Together, the companies have the top people in the market for cloud-based solutions. By joining forces we'll be able to offer our clients deeper levels of expertise and a broader set of capabilities. BlueMetal's design-driven focus on the Modern Application, coupled with Jornata's wide range of productivity solutions and products, will propel our clients to the next generation of their business applications."

The company, to be headquarted in the Boston area, will have national presence with a network of regional offices.

BlueMetal's President Craig Dillon will be the President of the merged company, which will be called BlueMetal Architects. Jornata's current President, Scott Jamison, will become President of RedMetal, BlueMetal's sister company focused on innovation and product development. Scott will play the role of Chief Architect, SharePoint, with BlueMetal's clients and will maintain his strong presence in the SharePoint community. Scott will also serve on the Board of Directors for both companies.

"There's a clear synergy between the two companies," said Scott Jamison, President of Jornata. "We can continue to serve our clients' needs with a more comprehensive solution approach. I'm excited to lead the RedMetal technology incubation group - the joint teams will enable us to innovate and grow next-generation products for both consumers and the enterprise."

BlueMetal's and RedMetal's Founder and Principal, Liam Spaeth, will be the Chief Innovation Officer for RedMetal, and will serve as Chairman of both BlueMetal and RedMetal Boards of Directors.

"I've known Scott and his team at Jornata for many years and I'm excited to have the opportunity to work together again," said Liam Spaeth, "We strongly believe that the new whole is greater than the sum of the parts. This will allow us to provide quality services to our clients with increased scale and expertise. Scott and the Jornata team have established a solid reputation in the Boston and New York markets delivering quality professional services to their clients, and I'm excited to join them in continuing to define the Modern Application Company."
