Event: Black Maria Film Festival Date: Thursday, March 12 & Sunday, March 15 Time: 6:30 p.m. Thu; 1:30 p.m. Sun Location: Des Moines Art Center Admission: Free Description: The Art Center continues to bring cutting-edge, independent films to the region by hosting the Black Maria International Film and Video Festival. The annual festival draws hundreds of entries from around the world in the categories of documentary, experimental, animation and narrative works. Fifty award-winning films are named and included in the Festivals annual tour which travels to more than 60 host institutions across the country and abroad. The films are selected with an adult audience in mind; the films on Thursday and Sunday are uniqueno film is shown twice! Reservations suggested.

Event: Spring Break at the State Historical Museum Date: Friday, March 13 Friday, March 20 Time: 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. M-Sat; Noon - 4:30 p.m. Sun Location: State Historical Museum of Iowa Admission: Free Description: Opening tomorrow, Friday March 13, catch the Battle Flag Hall.
