Around this time of year, most of us would normally be gathering supplies to get ready for spring cleaning. But of course, with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) upon us, disinfecting cell phones, kitchen faucets, and other household surfaces is paramount. As you continue to stock up on products, know that not all cleaning materials work the same way.

"We should all have cleaning supplies that are antiviral and antibacterial," says Dr. Elizabeth Mullans, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist based in Houston. Disinfectant wipes and sprays both count, she adds.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has come out with a list of products that while not tested on COVID-19 specifically, have been found to be effective disinfectants against similar viruses. Clorox, Lysol, and Purell are three brands that showed up several times.

We scoured the internet to find products from these brands and other disinfectants that are still available. We'll continue to monitor and update this list as often as possible. Meantime, for more about how to kill COVID-19 germs in your home, go here.
