WARSAW, N.Y. (WIVB) - Warren's Carpet Cleaning in Warsaw was destroyed after flames broke out around 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Authorities say two workers were inside closing up for the day when a van caught fire. Flames spread to other vehicles and then to the building, which housed cleaning chemicals. Crews arrived on scene and attempted to extinguish the flames engulfing the metal structure, but say the fire was stubborn, likely due to the chemicals involved.

Wyoming County Director of Fire and Emergency Management Anthony Santoro said, "We had some chemical storage in there for the carpet cleaning and what not, but we wanted to make sure all the guys were in a self-contained breathing apparatus for their protection."

At least 14 fire companies responded to the blaze and though the fire was brought under control, the building was a total loss.

Crews expected to be on scene for a portion of the evening extinguishing any remaining hot spots.
