Asian Paints to set up unit in Vizag -
January 18, 2015 by
Mr HomeBuilder
Decks are cleared for a mega painting plant by Asian Paints in Visakhapatnam.
The plant will involve an investment of Rs.1700 crore. Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao held a review meeting with the Asian Paints representatives and Industries Department at Hyderabad on Saturday to sort out certain bottlenecks for the project proposed at Pudi village near here. Asian Paints has agreed to establish the unit after allotment of land and obtaining environmental and other clearances from the authorities.
The Special Investment Promotion Board cleared the proposal a month ago.
Sources said the painting giant wanted to acquire 100 acres at a concessional rate for its proposed four lakh kilo litre plant with a slew of incentives like tax concessions and power subsidy.

Decks cleared for LNG terminal -
January 17, 2015 by
Mr HomeBuilder
: In a major development, Andhra Pradesh Gas Distribution Corporation, GDF Suez, Shell and GAIL have announced signing of two separate memorandums of understanding (MoUs) for LNG terminal at Kakinada deep water seaport.
The first MoU was signed between the APGDC, GDF SUEX and Shell and it supports the development of the terminal. APGDC (a joint venture of State government and GAIL) will have 48 per cent equity in the project while GDF SUEZ and Shell will have 26 per cent each. The second MoU is signed between GAIL, GDF SUEZ and Shell and it covers both the sourcing of the LNG and the marketing of the regasified LNG from the terminal. GAIL, GDF SUEZ and Shell will have 48 per cent, 26 per cent and 26 per cent equity in the project respectively.
The MoUs were signed in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union Minister P. Ashok Gajapati Raju and Ministers of State Dharmendra Pradhan and Y.S. Chowdary, GAIL said in a filing made to the BSE.
The Kakinada LNG terminal would use the state of the art Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FRSU) with a peak capacity of five million tonnes a year with a provision to double the capacity.
The proposed terminal would use high end technology and would be the first of its kind in the country. Kakinada port was found suitable for the project owing to its availability of natural break-water in the Hope Island a barrier that protects against the impact of the high seas. The project would provide additional revenue to the State to the tune of about Rs 1,700 crore and employment (direct and indirect) for about 2,000 people.
The Chief Minister asserted that the government was fully committed to the project. Domestic and international partners who have come together under the MoU would bring the best expertise technology and speediness from across the world to complete the project within 18 months.
He said Kakinada LNG terminal was a great opportunity in the development of a project that would ensure continuous availability of natural gas.
Asserting that FRSU-based LNG project was the most cost effective way to secure energy supply while bolstering the fight against climate change and pollution, he said gas was the way to go as it dovetailed concerns about climate change. Mr. Naidu said opportunities for scaling up the project were huge.
GAIL (India) Chairman and Managing Director B.C. Tripathi said this was the first of its kind LNG terminal in the country and would prove to be an important infrastructure for import of LNG. Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan said the project would be a significant boost to the economic churning and development.
Shell Companies in India chairman Yasmine Hilton and GDF SUEZ Energy CEO (South Asia, Middle East and Africa) Lucas Hautvast spoke.

Cards defense decks Rams -
January 17, 2015 by

CARBONDALE For all thats been made about the scoring ability of the Grand Valley High School boys basketball team, its the Cardinals defense that paved the way for that scoring Friday night against the Roaring Fork Rams.
Sam Parker and Gunner Rigsby each finished with a game-high 22 points for the eighth-ranked Cardinals, who took a big lead early thanks to its transition game on their way to a 72-56 Class 3A Western Slope League victory at the Roaring Fork High gymnasium.
Thats our main focus is to play good D and get out on the break, Rigsby, a sophomore, said. Everyone on this team has been working their hardest on defense every since weve been together. We were iffy on defense last year but, now that weve gotten it down, were starting to see a lot more success.
Thats definitely the case for the No. 8 Cardinals (7-1 overall, 3-0 3A WSL), who used that transition game to lead by double figures at the end of the first quarter and lead by as much as 30 by the halfway point of the third quarter. That also resulted in a balanced scoring attack for Grand Valley as well: Tanner Magee added 13 points and John Parker chipped in 10.
The kids have really dedicated themselves to team defense, Grand Valley coach Scott Parker said. I felt that we were in the right place defensively most of the time tonight. And when we play defense like that, were pretty good in transition.
Ben Carpenter had a team-high 16 points with four 3-pointers, Chering Sherpa added 12 and Adrian Chavez chipped in 11 points for the Rams (6-3 overall, 3-1 league), who lost their first league game of the season. Roaring Forks starting five was so displeased with its performance after the game that, during the final half of the fourth quarter, it huddled together at the end of the Rams bench.
I have no clue what they said to each other, Roaring Fork coach Larry Williams said. Im assuming, though, that it was something along the lines of Lets not let something like this happen again. We have good leadership on this team, and I know these guys will look forward to the challenge of playing these guys again.
The Cardinals made things challenging from the beginning.
Thanks to that first-quarter defensive effort, Grand Valley opened the game on a 19-4 run that was capped by a putback from Magee with 1 minute 55 seconds remaining in the first quarter. And the Cardinals didnt let up, either, pushing the lead to 36-15 on a 3-pointer from Sam Parker with 1:54 left before halftime. The Cardinals biggest lead was 32 points, which came after a pair of 3s from Rigsby and a jumper from Magee.
Theyre a good team and they worked hard, said Rigsby, who finished with four of the Cardinals nine 3-pointers. We just tried to come out and play our hardest from the get go, and this was the outcome.
