The Three Captains deck is the first Ultra Deck released for the One Piece Card Game. This version of the classic starter deck comes at a higher MSRP than every other product, but it comes with plenty of goodies to make up the difference.
The Ultra Deck comes packed with three different leader cards, a pre-built starter deck, a set of ten foil DON!! cards, and an amazing deckbox featuring all three leaders: Monkey D. Luffy, Eustass Kid, and Trafalgar Law. This product is the best bang for your buck, especially when you keep in mind the excellent reprints of Red staple cards that will be excellent additions to any deck for years to come.
The last member to join the Straw Hat Pirates, Jinbe, is one of two 2,000 power counter cards in the Ultra Deck. Not only is this card great to have in your hand at all times, Jinbes When Attacking effect is a great way to get over huge blockers like OP-02 Monkey.D.Luffy.
Activating Jinbes When Attacking effect is a huge commitment, but the minus effect that he can inflict on your opponents characters will save you in a pinch, or facilitate your Trafalgar Law leader effect.
Until the release of the Ultra Deck: The Three Captains, Straw Hat Pirates decks did not have a searchable boss card for the archetype. With this Monkey.D.Luffy card, you can remove a blocker or any other obnoxious card on the board while attacking with a huge 11,000 power character.
A lot of decks have to play a big number of high-cost cards to see them as often as possible, subjecting your deck to possibly bricking, but with Luffy, you can tone down the amount of cards you play since you can search him with Nami or In Two Years!! At The Sabaody Archipelago!! Event card.
Heart Pirates cards have been in an interesting spot for most of the game. With Trafalgar Law being the only leader with the same type, and no search cards for the archetype, the card tends to be slightly lackluster. OP-05 gave the Heart Pirates a way to find pieces with When Youre At Sea You Fight Pirates!! card, making Jean Bart a great option for early-game ramp.
Jean Bart lets you rest one DON!! And gain an extra DON!! as active, letting you get to your higher-cost characters quicker, or giving you more versatile turns.
Heat might seem like an underwhelming card at first, but its actually one of the most slept-on cards in the Ultra Deck. With purple constantly returning DON!! from the field to the deck, Heat is a great character to play early on that will draw constant attention.
In a meta where 6,000 power leaders are viable, Heats constant 6,000 power is a great way to pressure your opponents without committing too much DON!! to it. Pairing this card with other ramp cards, like the five-cost Eustass Kid, can make this a deadly threat.
Theres a reason why the Ultra Deck is named Ultra. Not only do you get a set of shiny new DON!! Cards and a spiffy deck box, but you get a set of OP-01 reprints, including Roronoa Zoro.
This Zoro card is one of the best in the game, letting you attack once more with his Rush ability. The card has been fluctuating in price, being such an important staple card for red decks, but with the release of the Ultra Deck, the card is now more accessible than ever.
This version of Kid is one of the biggest threats that the Ultra Deck has to offer. At 8,000 base power, the captain of the Kid Pirates can be quite hard to remove, and the longer he stays on the board the bigger problem he becomes.
Kid, whenever he is played or he attacks, will give your leader a 1,000 power boost until the start of your next turn, making your leader a mini Whitebeard, or in Red/Purple Luffys case, a 7,000 wall to overcome.
Just like Jean Bart, Shachi & Penguin are Heart Pirates that not only boost the archetype, but are also generic ramp for any purple deck. While the effect might feel quite specific, Shachi & Penguin work excellently in tandem with the Red/Purple Trafalgar Law found in the Ultra Deck. Since Laws leader ability revolves around constantly returning three DON!! back to your deck, Shachi & Penguins ability can help you ramp back up to a healthy board state to cheat out even more four-cost characters.
The other set of reprints from the Ultra Deck is none other than the Straw Hat Crews navigator, Nami. This card is one of the strongest characters in the game solely due to the number of Straw Hat cards found in the One Piece Card Game.
Nami is such a strong card, she even saw a short stint on the banned cards list for the game. Luckily, you can play the card again and look better doing so with this stunning new artwork.
Hand control in the One Piece Card Game is one of the most important aspects of the game. In high-level play, opponents will base their attacks on the amount you can probably counter out of your hand.
Purple Trafalgar Law is a Blocker that also lets you rip two cards out of your opponents hand if they have seven or more. If you play your cards correctly, you can set your opponent back quite a bit by turn three if you go first.
Bepo can get your DON!! ramp going fairly quick and it is quite scary. Just like the Eustass Kid found in the Ultra Deck, the Heart Pirates second-in-command can activate his ability On Play and When Attacking.
As long as your opponent has more DON!! Cards than you have on their field, Bepo can add one from your deck for free. He works incredibly in decks piloted by his captain, Trafalgar Law, but he can still be used in cheeky purple decks with enough creativity.

Over the last several years, the shape and size of mounts used in residential solar projects have changed to a lower profile attachment that can be installed over the shingle instead of slid underneath like metal flashing sheets. The next obstacle in residential solar design was expanding these top-mounted attachments that could primarily be installed on rafters onto the decking surface of the roof. Ryan Estrada, technical program outreach manager, and Nico Martinez, senior product manager at Unirac, are here to discuss whats new with solar mounting and, more specifically, the advancement of direct-to-deck attachments.
A written portion of this podcast is below but be sure to listen to the full episode on your preferred podcast service.
Nico Martinez, senior product manager, Unirac.
Nico Martinez: Were starting to see rail-less make a little bit of a comeback here in the solar racking industry. Weve also seen a big push for open channel rail systems, both of which we provide here at Unirac. But rail-less, were starting to see a lot of of our competitors starting to focus on those types of systems. There are some big pros there. It can help reduce the number of attachments, which as we all know, one of the ways that your crews get called back to a house is with roof leaks. So, if you can reduce the number of attachments that are penetrating that roof, that really helps. Then it also helps reduces labor time for crews.
Ryan Estrada: Another trend were seeing is polymeric or chemical flashings for roof attachments. Whats gained a lot of popularity now is the butyl mastic roof attachments, and these will go directly on top of the shingle. So, the benefit there is you dont have to pry nails, you dont have to risk damaging shingles in cold weather when it gets really rigid. You dont have to pop up nails and create holes and then backfill them, and its been tested and tried and true in different industries, and now its making a comeback in solar power on top of your comp shingles.
Ryan Estrada, technical program outreach manager, Unirac.
RE: An interesting topic here because the typical test standards used in the industry are made for connection into the rafter. And so the test standards havent fully caught up to what the industry is doing with deck attachment. So your typical rafter-attached test standards are ASTM 7147, which is a specification for testing and establishing allowable loads of joist hangers. And then theres 1761 which is the standard test for mechanical fasteners and wood-based materials. The gaps that we see in using these standards for direct deck is that its really limited.
NM: What weve discovered when were doing some side-by-side comparison testing with our competitors, especially on the direct-to-deck attachments, is that these loads that some of our competitors are claiming, No. 1, were having a hard time meeting, and No. 2, its in a very controlled laboratory setting. What we really tried to focus on in our testing and this is why weve taken a very strict engineering approach, I know some people may think we might be a little overly conservative sometimes but the reason that we do that is we dont want our cause the issues on your roof, on your solar, because once that starts happening, its not just bad for Unirac, but its bad for the entire industry.
RE: We can all agree that were going to have more severe weather events in the future. And were seeing a high frequency of severe weather, and we expect that to continue. Roofs are designed to withstand uniform loading, so uniform snow loads or uniform wind loads. When you attach direct to deck, youre turning that uniform load into point loads. Once you reach a certain threshold, you can actually start to weaken that roof. We really do our research and due diligence in identifying that and were not just making solar mounting systems, its an ecosystem thats tied in with building and construction, we have to follow the building codes.
Not all direct-to-deck connections are bad, right? Its just a matter of knowing what the limit is and what that threshold is.

The Finals has finally left its beta and is now on Steam for everyone to play. However, can you play it on the go with the Steam Deck?
Theres a brand new FPS multiplayer game to dig yourself into with The Finals. Finally leaving its extensive beta period, the game is now up for free on Steam.
However, theres some rotten news for those on Steam Deck. The game is running Easy Anti-Cheat, a common issue for many players on Valves handheld. We cant even launch the game to see how the performance is without reinstalling Windows.

So the answer is no, The Finals will not work on Steam Deck due to its anti-cheat. Once developers Embark Studios and Nexon decide to flick the switch, well be able to gauge performance.
For now, if you really want to play The Finals on the go, you might need to consider other routes.
Fewer Ads|Dark Mode|Deals in Gaming, TV and Movies, and Tech
Theres a precedent of Easy Anti-Cheat games working on the Steam Deck, however. Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Apex Legends. Weve even seen some teams shift to a new anti-cheat, just to ensure that players on Steam Deck are included.
Article continues after ad
Valves Proton supports Easy Anti-Cheat, and even other anti-cheat developers have said that its on the game studio to push the button. Its been a running occurrence with Linux since online gaming started. Some studios dont feel comfortable with a player on an OS that in the right hands, allows for a lot of shenanigans.

The world is ever-shifting however. More and more people are being exposed to Linux each day. As Valves handheld is still taking the world by storm, it still only accounts for 2% of the player population on Steam.

Perhaps Nexon doesnt see the effort needed to ensure The Finals works well on the OS as a priority right now.

The Steam Deck OLED has been on the test bench the past few weeks at Phoronix. The HDR OLED display of the updated Steam Deck handheld game console is gorgeous and was very impressed by it. On a technical level the battery life improvements are significant and one of the items I was most curious about were the power/performance implications in moving from the 7nm Van Gogh APU to a 6nm die shrink version of it while retaining the Zen 2 CPU cores and RDNA2 integrated graphics. Here's a look at the performance and CPU power consumption between the Steam Deck LCD and Steam Deck OLED models not only for gaming but other Linux workloads too.
As my first set of Steam Deck OLED benchmarks, I was curious to stress the new hardware with a focus on looking at the power/performance difference of the 6nm AMD APU compared to the prior 7nm Van Gogh APU of the original Steam Deck (LCD). The 6nm APU is effectively just a die shrink with the new Steam Deck will having four Zen 4 cores (8 threads), clocking up to 3.5GHz, 8 RDNA 2 CUs clocking up to 1.6GHz, and an APU power rating of 4 to 15 Watts.
While running a wide range of workloads -- both gaming as well as other CPU/system workloads for being curious over the 6nm power/performance, I was also monitoring the SoC power consumption using the exposed PowerCap/RAPL interface. I would have also monitored the SoC temperature too for differences but it wasn't loaded on SteamOS
Both Steam Deck models were with 16GB of RAM and running the latest SteamOS rolling as of testing.

Its a Friday, were less than three weeks from Christmas, we have ourselves a full slate of NFL this weekend and Paige Spiranac is feeling festive.
Who has it better than us? Nobody, thats who.
Oh yeah we also have the most patriotic Saturday of the year on deck with the Army-Navy game set for tomorrow. My goodness. What a damn weekend!
On that note, welcome to a Friday Nightcaps where I do my best to power us all through the final hour of the work week as we all sip on our Yetis full of whiskey during the days final zoom call. Allegedly, of course.
Yes, were gonna deck the halls with Pageviews Paige Spiranac today. Nobody has the Mrs. Claus market cornered quite like she does.
Were also going to do some shopping at the Kroger and hope we dont catch a fist to the face, and then hit the Dunkin drive-thru on the way home because my experience from earlier today deserves attention.
Anything else? Well, Will Levis sister, Kelley Levis, turned 23 this week. Feel like well end class with her, if yall are good. Well see.
Keep sucking down that ice cold Yeti whiskey and settle in for a Friday Cap to cap the week. Lets roll.
Look, I know we usually start with the reason youre all here on a Friday, but Paige Spiranac is gonna have to wait a bit, because we need to discuss this drive-thru nonsense.
Ive noticed it for a while now, but admittedly thought it was more of a Starbucks thing. But lately this morning, in particular I realized its spreading like a wildfire.
The drive-thru banter needs to stop. Like, now. Immediately.
I was in the Dunkin drive-thru this morning with The First Lady and we were in somewhat of a rush. I needed my daily breakfast coffee and a nice rogue so we pulled into the Dunks line because it wasnt too long. Thought to myself, great, this will be nice and quick and well be on our way.
And then it just didnt move. We sat in the same spot for a solid five minutes before we saw any movement, and it must have taken us 15 minutes to get to the giant board to make our order. It was insanity, because there were only like three cars ahead of us.
And then we got there, and the lady queued the mic to take our order. Thats when I realized why it was taking so long
Welcome to Dunkin! My name is (dont remember, dont care) how are you doing today?
Me: Great.
Thats awesome. Im doing pretty good, too.
Me: Awesome.
Yeah always good when its Friday. Cant complain.
Me: Yep.
So, what were you thinking today?
Me: Large peppermint mocha iced, creme only, turbo shot.
Nice choice. My favorite!
Me: Yep. Id also like
How about some food today?
Me: Mhm. Yeah. I also want a bacon wake-up wrap with
Bacons the best one. Can I interest you in some hashbrowns?
Me: Yep. Wasnt done. Ill take some hashbrowns, too.
You want them loaded?
Me: Nope.
OK! Got it. Have a great day, see you at the window!
Me: Yep. Cant wait.
Im telling you, that is word for word the encounter I had this morning. It was a solid 90-second process.
The First Lady got pissed because she couldnt believe I didnt initially ask the girl how she was doing after she asked me. I said nope, not doing it. Not now, not ever. Im not there to make small talk.
People who use the drive-thru are generally in a hurry, or else theyd go in.
I dont want to make a friend during my drive-thru experience. I dont want to learn what their favorite food or drink is. I could not care less. You work at Dunkin, life cannot be that exciting. It just cant be. Its impossible.
I want all drive-thru operations in this country to be exactly like the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld.
Order, pay, get food, go. Its perfect. You know who does it well? Chick-Fil-A. Those people are like robots over there, and guess what? There is no smoother drive-thru process in the world than Chick-Fil-A.
Be more like them, America.
Now, lets get back on track and into the Christmas season with Paige Spiranac, who puts a whole new twist on Mrs. Claus:
Come for the tits, stay for the tips is an all-time slogan. Nobody in this newfound Influencer age does it better than Paige Spiranac. Frankly, nobody even comes close.
Merry Christmas indeed!
Now, lets head back up the sky and check in with the airline industry. For this who skipped yesterdays class, we showed video of a #maskedup passenger wreaking havoc on a Spirit flight because he couldnt wait five more minutes to deplane.
For todays encore, heres maybe the grossest Mile High Club video Ive ever witnessed:
Now, I love shrimp, and I love garlic. So, I dont think Id be that pissed if I was on that plane and it smelled like garlic shrimp for three hours.
That being said, I feel like Im in the minority on that one because the First Lady (hey, thats two cameos from her today!) is sitting across from me and when I told her what I was watching she legitimately looked horrified.
Also, could you imagine walking into the bathroom on an airplane and seeing a giant ass battery hooked up to the sink like that? The balls on this guy must be massive. Unreal move. Not convinced the FBIs not showing up at his door today now that that TikToks gone viral, though. Head on a swivel.
Now, for as good as the airline industrys been this week, the lunatics fighting in public industry has been on an entirely different level.
First you had this from our neighbors to the north:
Then you had this from a courtroom in Mississippi:
And finally, we now have this from your friendly neighborhood Kroger!
Mount Rushmore of grocery stores? Why not!
No further questions.
Id also accept: Albertsons!
OK, rapid-fire time so we can start doing things that well regret in the morning.
First up? Charles Barkley just now realizing nobody watches CNN anymore:
For those wondering, Barkleys new CNN show debuted last Wednesday and averaged 501k viewers. Thats awful, for those who dont know. Sad. Come to FOX, Chuck! Jon Rahm loves it here!
Next? Now that we know that Bills HC Sean McDermott was a big fan of how the 9/11 hijackers went about their business, I figured it was as good a time as any to resurface this little gem from Joey Mulinaro:
Hilarious. Joey, by the way, is an excellent follow on Elons site. Hes todays version of Frank Caliendo.
As for Sean McDermott what a take. Just a wild, wild take.
Finally, I stumbled across this little story on Reddit today and it screamed Nightcaps:
A bunch of us went to Nashville for a bachelor party for one of my best friends. Were all Alabama grads (Roll Tide) and I still live in Tuscaloosa but most of the other guys have moved away so it was pretty much a college reunion.
We hit the bars downtown early and we hit them HARD, and pretty soon every drink was basically just a double shot of whiskey. We were ripping shots and also shooting our shots with every bachelorette party we met (there were a shit ton of them.) It wasnt even that late on the first night we were there but after drinking the whole day we ended up at Kid Rocks bar.
More shots, more beers, and somehow in my blacked out state the beer I was holding slipped out of my hand as I was leaning over the railing on the second floor and shattered on the floor below em.
Well we obviously get kicked out pretty quick, and I decide that Im just gonna call it a night and head back to the AirBnb. I was already pretty f*cking drunk at that point anyway, so it was probably for the best anyway.
Except somehow in my drunken state when I called the Uber, instead of putting in the address for the hotel I just clicked Home (I guess I thought the Airbnb was home for the weekend). You can probably see where this is going
I stumble around and finally meet up with the Uber and pass out pretty much as soon as I get in the car.
When I finally wake up I realize that Im not at the Airbnb, but back home in Tuscaloosabecause I had set my destination as Home.
At this point the bachelor party weekend is already f*cked for me so I just I get in my bed and pass out, and wake up the next morning to see that the ride back home cost me $1253.
Amazing. What a night! Is it on the Uber driver to confirm with the blacked out dude that he actually wants to drive all the way to Tuscaloosa? Maybe. But probably not.
He knew exactly what was going on and saw a $1k payday coming his way. A little dirty? Maybe. But its business.
OK, thats enough for today. Lets all say happy birthday to Kelley Levis before brother Will gets destroyed by the Dolphins Monday night.
See you then.
OutKick Nightcaps is a daily column set to run Monday through Friday at 4 p.m. (roughly, were not robots).

I'm as surprised as you are but The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition just got a brand new update that includes Steam Deck support.
This update brings "Bethesda Game Studios Creations" to the Special Edition, which is a new and updated way to download community-made content in-game. Not only is this for making downloading mods easier, but Bethesda said modders can get verified through it and earn money from their creations. That's right, paid mods are coming back.
On top of that there's now support for "ultrawide PC monitors, including 16:9, 16:10, 21:9 and 32:9 displays", lots of bug fixes, performance improvements, localization fixes and various in-game console improvements.
When it comes to Steam Deck support, they don't exactly say what they improved or added for the announcement. Big studios being as helpful as ever. In the patch notes it says:
Steam Deck Support (PC)
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is now supported on Steam Deck! Whether your adventures take you on the road or just on the couch, enjoy Skyrim wherever you go with Valves portable PC handheld.
And then under the PC Only section it just says "FEATURE: Support for Steam Deck."
It's currently at time of writing rated Steam Deck Playable by Valve, which was reviewed back in April 2022. The issues preventing it being fully Verified were needing to manually bring up the on-screen keyboard and a problematic launcher. Testing this update myself on Steam Deck and there was no launcher, it went straight into the game that's one tick. And when going to name my character, the big Steam Deck overlay keyboard appeared so another tick. Looks like it can be bumped up to Steam Deck Verified now.
That said, the trouble is, the game is old and doesn't let you change graphics settings in-game. So you're stuck with the defaults they set. If you wish to change them, setting SteamDeck=0 %command% as a launch option in the Properties will bring back the launcher.
Also, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition looks awesome on the Steam Deck OLED. I have so many other games to go through butit's now calling to me again.

Steelwork and bridge deck construction are now complete on Griffiths' new Dyfi Bridge project in Wales.
Building work on the Welsh Government scheme began in spring 2021.
The site team are now working on the viaduct finishes, including deck waterproofing, parapets and combined kerbing installation.
Road surfacing, street lighting, and signage installation are also underway, ensuring safety and convenience for the travelling public. Griffiths is also working on drainage and scour protection to guarantee the bridges longevity.
The bridge is located on the A487 near Machynlleth in Wales. The existing 19th century Pont-ar-Ddyfi bridge was not designed to carry the current volume of traffic, and the road is often closed due to frequent flooding.
The scheme will see the A487 realigned away from the Pont-ar-Ddyfi bridge, a Grade II-listed and Scheduled Ancient Monument, and routed onto a new viaduct structure 480m upstream to reduce the pinch point.
As such, the project has been designed to improve road safety, strengthen links between communities, provide active travel opportunities and build resilience against flooding.
The bridge will make it easier to cross the River Dyfi and provide better access to employment opportunities, healthcare and education. In addition, it will make sure Machynlleth remains a vibrant centre of the community and preserve historic landmarks and buildings.
The new 725m long viaduct, with a 74m span over the River Dyfi itself, was designed by Arup for contractor Griffiths. Work to minimise the flood risk and impact on the river was undertaken with Wallingford HydroSolutions.

In some ugly scenes this evening at their pre-fight press conference, bitter enemies and opponents, Logan Paul and Dillon Danis were corralled and escorted off stage in Manchester after the latter appeared to hit the former in the face with a water bottle ahead of a planned face-off.
Slated to co-headline a MisFits boxing event in England, Bellator MMA grappler and 2-0 professional mixed martial artists, Danis makes a professional boxing debut in Manchester taking on professional wrestler and podcast host, Paul in a bad-blooded clash inside the square circle.
Currently involved in legal proceedings with Pauls fiance, Nina Agdal ahead of the boxing match, Dillon Danis has continued to post expletive photos of the latter on his official social media, as well as a slew of pictures of her alongside prior boyfriends and partners, in a bid to promote his clash with Ohio native, Paul.
And sharing the stage today in a heated back-and-forth ahead of this weekends co-main event bout in Manchester, Danis who showed off his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ability during last nights openworks, appeared to launch a water bottle at the face of Paul ahead of a staredown, with Paul covering his head as the two were escorted off stage with security scuffling.
Sidelined from active competition since 2019, Danis, who has since undergone a series of surgical procedures to address a myriad of knee injuries, boasts a 2-0 professional mixed martial arts record, landing a pair of back-to-back submission wins in two outings with Bellator MMA.
Across social media last night to boot, footage emerged of Danis choking out OnlyFans model and boxing influencer, Elle Brook, who asked to be choked unconscious before describing the feeling as so much better than drugs.
Who wins this weekend in Manchester: Logan Paul or Dillon Danis?
