Syracuse, N.Y. -- An Onondaga County jury has convicted Lynnquan Kellam of murder in the 2013 shooting of Arthur Bullock, a Syracuse handyman.
The jury returned the verdict this afternoon. After jurors were unable to reach a verdict Monday, they were instructed by Onondaga County Judge Joseph Fahey to reconsider the evidence.
Kellam was convicted of one count of second-degree murder, three counts of robbery in the first degree and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
Kellam is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 18. He could receive a sentence of 25 years to life on the murder charge, according to prosecutor Melinda McGunnigle.

The same case against Kellam, 28, went to trial last summer, but the jury deadlocked 11 to 1 after three days of deliberation.
Kellam was accused of shooting Bullock on Bullock's front porch at 142 Fage Ave. Bullock was shot in the head during a robbery and died at Upstate University Hospital.
Kellam, who was on the porch, said he was not the shooter, but another victim of the actual robber. The prosecution argued that an eyewitness saw Kellam pull the trigger and that others corroborated the witness's story.

Yelp just announced a pretty significant milestone. It now has over 100,000 developers using its API to integrate its data into their products. Regardless of whether or not consumers actually turn to the Yelp app or Yelp.com to find business information, theyre going to be exposed to it one way or another through third-party apps and services.
Developers and partners of all shapes and sizes, from tiny startups to Fortune 500 companies are using the Yelp API to help their users make better decisions within their own apps, a Yelp spokesperson tells WebProNews. Our goal is to make sure that every developer can get what they need in terms of local search and data to build, launch, and improve their apps.
Consumers rely on Yelps trustworthy ratings, reviews, and accurate business details to make important decisions every day finding a place to eat, selecting a handyman to help them fix up their home, or uncovering the best place to buy a gift, said Mike Ghaffary, VP of Business and Corporate Development at Yelp, in a blog post. These days, you can also find the same great Yelp content in Apple products; Volvo, Mercedes Benz, and Toyota vehicles; third-party apps such as Eat24, Microsoft, Trulia, and Yahoo; and a variety of cutting-edge startups like AddressReport, DuckDuckGo, and Wildcard, just to mention a few.
Yahoo, Microsoft, and Apple are obviously big ones, particularly when it comes to searching for information. Apple has Yelp integrated into iOS and OS X in various apps and operating system features.
Other integrations Yelp chose to highlight are Trulia and AddressReport. Trulia uses it in the home search space. It gives home buyers an idea of the types of businesses that are in a given neighborhood.
AddressReport provides information on specific addresses including what is nearby, and uses Yelp reviews for sections like Where youll dine.
Yelp is committed to providing a robust and unparalleled local search experience via the Yelp API, Ghaffary said. Our goal is to make sure that every developer can get what they need in terms of local search and data to build, launch, and improve their apps. It sounds like Yelp has plenty more to come in terms of what services will be able to do with its data. The company says it will be launching off the shell tools so anyone can use applicable Yelp data in their experiences even if theyre not technical-minded. I guess well stay tuned for that.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- For the second time, an Onondaga County jury in the murder case against Lynnquan Kellam has told an Onondaga County judge they could not reach a verdict.
But Judge Joseph Fahey this afternoon sent this second jury back to reconsider the evidence in the shooting of Arthur Bullock, 54, of Syracuse.
Kellam, 28, was accused in the same case last summer. Then, the jury deadlocked 11 to 1 after three days of deliberation.
This time, the jury got the case late Tuesday, according to prosecutor Melinda McGunnigle. Fahey sent this second jury back to continue deliberating shortly after 3 p.m. today.
Kellam is accused of shooting Bullock to death on May 31, 2013 on Bullock's front porch at 142 Fage Ave. Bullock was shot in the head during a robbery and died at Upstate University Hospital.
Kellam, who was on the porch, has said he was not the shooter, but another victim of the actual robber. McGunnigle has argued that an eyewitness saw Kellam pull the trigger and that others corroborated the witness's story.
Defense lawyer Don Kelly argued during the first trial that the witnesses colluded against Kellam to protect the true shooter's identity.
Deliberations in this second trial are expected to continue on Friday.

(AUBURN, CA) - Seniors First has been awarded a prestigious grant by the United Auburn Indian Community of the Auburn Rancheria for $5,000 to support home modification and safety repairs for older adults in the county.
Seniors First, a 501(c)(3) organization providing vital services to older adults in Placer County, was carefully selected as a recipient of the grant to help fund the organization's handyman program. "We are honored to receive such a generous donation from the United Auburn Indian Community of the Auburn Rancheria. During this time of year it is especially important to provide our seniors with the proper care and love they need," commented Jamee Horning, executive director of Seniors First.
The handyman program at Seniors First provides minor home repairs for low-income Placer County seniors. This is one of a full spectrum of services offered by Seniors First to help older adults maintain their independence and remain safe in their homes for as long as possible. "There is a great demand for this program at Seniors First and we are truly grateful that the money provided from the grant will help support home and safety repairs for seniors in our community," added Horning.

FLINT, MI -- A Flint man is headed to prison for more than a decade after authorities claimed he shot a handymanwho he said he hired to do electrical work on his home in exchange for crack.
Joseph Dante Lee, 33, was sentenced Monday, Jan. 12, by Genesee Circuit Judge Archie Hayman to 10-20 years in prison after jurors found him guilty of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder after prosecutors accused him of shooting a man in the chest at his home in November 2013.
He was also ordered to serve a consecutive two-year prison term for felony firearms.
Lee maintained his innocence during the sentencing hearing, and claimed he was acting in self-defense.
Authorities claimed Lee hired the victim to do electrical work on his home. In exchange for the work, Lee offered to pay the man in crack cocaine, they said.
Lee provided the man with cocaine and left the home. However, when Lee returned home, prosecutors claim a dispute ensued between the two men after Lee claimed the victim helped himself to more of his crack.
Prosecutors said Lee then shot the victim in the chest. The bullet traveled down the victim's body before being lodged in his groin. Lee dragged the victim out to the porch of the house, called 911, and used a fake name to tell dispatchers the victim was shot by another person during a robbery.
The victim was transported to the hospital where he was treated for his injury. Doctors were unable to remove the bullet.
Lee's attorney, John Tosto, argued that the victim, who authorities say was using crack throughout the day of the shooting, provided inconsistent testimony.
However, Janet McLaren, a special assistant Attorney General assigned to the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office, claimed that it was Lee's testimony claiming self-defense that was inconsistent during the trial.
