Interactive game educates homeowners on burglary techniques and prevention.
Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) December 03, 2012
According to FBI data, a home burglary occurs about once every 15 seconds in the United States, and dollar losses per incident average around $2,000. Many people don't think much about home security until they or a neighbor experience a break-in. Effective home security depends on a comprehensive set of practices (such as locking up consistently) and security tools (such as deadbolt locks) to defend against the most common break-in methods.
To play "Bad Guy on the Block," players first choose a character: "Rob," a burglar, or "Harmony," a homeowner. As Rob, players choose methods to break into Harmony's house while she is away. As Harmony, players identify home security vulnerabilities that mirror common vulnerabilities in real homes.
Throughout the game, players can learn more about break-in methods and how to address risk factors in home security. "This new game is an engaging way for people to gain understanding about protecting their homes against intrusion," said Rob Williams, Vice President of Internet Marketing for Protect Your Home."Plus, they can earn real home security deals for their effort."
Protect Your Home hopes to educate homeowners on how to protect their homes from burglars while having a little fun in the process. Williams continued, "We want to show homeowners what burglars look for in terms of vulnerabilities and how they can identify and correct potential access points in their own homes, with the ultimate goal of increasing home safety and security."
The game can be played at http://www.badguyontheblock.com.
Since its inception in 1998, Protect Your Home has been committed to delivering quality home security automation services to its customers. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, Protect Your Home employs 1,800 people at nearly 120 locations across the United States. For more information, visit http://www.protectyourhome.com/

With the touch of a button, users can now remotely control their wireless home security settings, allow home entry without a pin, get alerts and warnings sent straight to their phones, and disarm and rearm their sensors at will -- whether they're a block or a continent away.
(PRWEB) December 05, 2012
The SimpliSafe App affords customers additional security by removing the need to give a PIN code to occasional visitors, such as caretakers and maintenance workers. Traditional systems require a PIN code to be physically punched into a security systems keypad. The SimpliSafe App offers system control from anywhere in the world. A customer vacationing in Bali can get a text alerting her of a water leak, call a trusted plumber, and disarm her system to give him entry into her home. After the plumber leaves, all the homeowner needs to do is press a button on her smartphone screen to re-arm her security system and rest easy. This ensures that SimpliSafe customers can control exactly who can enter their homes and when, and provides an added level of security.
The SimpliSafe App is available in Apples App Store, the Windows Phone App Store, and Google Play. Customers can download the app for free. Remote management features are included in SimpliSafes interactive alarm monitoring plan, which costs just $24.99/month. As with all SimpliSafe products and services, customers can enjoy these advanced features without needing to sign any long-term contracts.
About SimpliSafe Home Security:
SimpliSafe is a simple, secure and complete do-it-yourself security system. Using entirely wireless components, the alarm system can be easily customized and installed by a homeowner or renter. SimpliSafe also provides nationwide alarm monitoring services for their wireless security systems. SimpliSafe systems and alarm monitoring services are sold online at http://SimpliSafe.com

This video shows a small security system developed using Arduino. What the system will do is that, if it detects a motion, it turns on the alarm and send SMS to owner of the house. The owner can then deactivate it by sending a specific code. The owner can also ask for temperature by sending "Temp?" to the device to make sure there is no fire or anything else. From:Mhretab KidaneViews:18 1ratingsTime:02:55More inPeople Blogs

Local teen steals Skanky beer off porch
Local hooligan practicing for his adult profession. This is a video I put together today from my home security cam. When I went to check to see if my kids had taken up the trash off my front porch like I told them to for the last week or so, I realized some old beer cans that a friend left on the porch had went missing. I went to check the cameras and this is what I found. Yes honestly I should have not left the beer outside for that long, but everytime the cooler got bumped or knocked, it stunk to high heaven and would make you Gag. The beers originally were not mine, as a friend left the cooler on my porch, and I honestly told him to come and get it and take it home with him, but he never did.From:unclejed27Views:1 0ratingsTime:10:38More inEntertainment
