Cost of a Kitchen Remodeling – Estimates and Prices Paid - December 30, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Typical costs: The cost of remodeling a kitchen depends on the current layout, size and condition of the room, as well as the quality of replacement products chosen. According to an annual construction cost survey by Remodeling Magazine[1] , a minor remodel of a 200-square-foot (10x20) kitchen averages $20,077-$23,210 nationwide; a mid-range major remodel including an island and other upgrades runs $52,405-$63,803; and an upscale remodel for the same size kitchen can be $105,621-$120,379. These are averages; actual costs may be higher or lower. In contrast, DoItYourself.com[2] estimates that the cost of a typical kitchen remodel can start around $5,000 with some do-it-yourself work included, and averages $15,000-$26,000. with brand new appliances my wife spent around $6,500 on our budget was half gone never the less i thought i was pretty good with my hands and a decent wood worker i layed the new wood floors my self and after a $160 vo tech cabnitry class mad most of the cabnets there had quarts counter tops put in painted and had enough money left over to even put new lights in now on to the master bath!

I remodeled my kitchen for $16,000. It is about 225sqft. Has a 4x8 island and about 20' of wall counter space - 2 sinks. it has hardwood floors - oak with 5 coats of finish, maple cabinets and quartz countertops. I got a budgetary quote from teh calculator at http://www.remodelormove.com and then subtracted the cost of appliances which i did not replace. The calculator was nice because i did some of the work myself

We hired Lighthouse Construction (Lighthouseconsco@aol.com)to remodel our kitchen because of their experiance in working with older homes. We relied heavily on their reccomendations and were amazed every day with the commitmentment to the quality of the work and the attention to planning details. They were very knowlegable in the products available.

We remodeled our Kitchen about a year ago with Green Planet Building located in Los Angeles, CA. They were truly an amazing company to work with. Their attention to detail helped me create a kitchen I love. We put new eco-friendly everything into our kitchen from the beautiful ice-stone counter tops to the no voc paints. It was great to be able to track the entire process of my project online. I knew what what happening everyday because they have a client log in that gave me a calendar of events taking place like the plumber will be there on Friday or the cabinets are being installed on Monday. It was such a great experience we are now having them do our bathrooms.

We recently renovated our kitchen similar to Phillip in Columbus. We gutted it all but left the ceiling, added can lights, new window, and moved a door (new door), removed the furrdowns from the ceiling. Some minor plumbing work and new wiring and outlets, undercounter wiring. Cabinets from Ikea (with soft hinges and door glides, granite countertops (on sale for $36/sf)and travertine floor and backsplash. Total cost was S11,400 for all materials only including tile labor and plumbing labor. If quality contractor was included might cost about $22K. It is a lot of work but looks and feels fantastic. 30-60K increase in value. We already had the appliances, so price is bare kitchen.

Kitchen Remodeling Trends That are Going To Remain Popular into 2015 - December 30, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Indianapolis, Indiana (PRWEB) December 30, 2014

The expert kitchen designer of DirectBuy of Indianapolis, Holly Denihan, recently created a video to share the current trends that will continue through the new year. Holly has been the custom kitchen designer for the Directbuy of Indianapolis since 2006. With over 1,000 kitchens designed not only does she have great ideas, she is very up to date with the current trends and what is available for the up to date kitchen.

The popular kitchen cabinetry colors include: white paints, grey paints and stains of all different shades, and also espresso and brown stains with a grey undertone. It is also popular to combine these color options by having white cabinets on the walls and grey island cabinetry

As families create their new kitchen, the current family trends do impact the design. More families are searching for comfortable, casual and functional.

More home designs have an open concept to the living space which makes the kitchen the center of the activities. This is the area where children do their homework, meals are prepared and shared, guests are entertained and the space is opened to the other busy areas of the home.

The cabinetry design selections include more clean lines and larger crown molding. The open concept design works well with cabinets to the ceiling to create more storage space.

Another important item for todays family is accessories that accommodate todays technology. This would include charging stations for all of the family gadgets; tablets, smart phones, computers, etc. A charging station not only makes it easy to charge all of the familys technology, it is a great way to keep cords at hand and out of view.

One can create more storage space by using deep drawers. The big deep drawers are available for dishes with dividers that keep the plates and bowls from falling over as the drawers are opened and closed

Double trash pull out makes it easy to recycle. The regular trash is hidden away from view and pets and a second trash container is conveniently placed in the same pull out to make it easy to separate recyclables.

The drawer microwave also accommodates the open concept kitchen that leaves the family with less wall space. The Sharps drawer microwave makes it easy to use with the controls on top and at an angle for easy view and usage.

Dexter's Red Brick Kitchen to expand into space next door - December 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

By Sarah Rigg Special to The Dexter Leader

Dexters Red Brick Kitchen will expand into the space next door, adding seating area and tripling the kitchen space.

At the beginning of the summer, the space next door became available for us, Peter Landrum said. Once our regular customers found out the space was available, they really started pushing us.

Prior to the space becoming available, the Landrums didnt have concrete plans to expand their popular downtown restaurant, but the opportunity was too perfect.

It became something we couldnt pass up, said Peter. If we were ever going to try to expand in our current space, its something we needed to do.

Landrum said he wishes the remodeling was already underway, but the restaurant needs to take care of some paperwork before it can begin.

Right now, were waiting on permits and approval, everything like that, Landrum said. Weve given the initial drawings to the appropriate people in the (city), and soon well be going to Washtenaw County to get approvals for the work we want to be doing.

The remodeling, when completed, should expand the kitchen area as well as the seating.

The couple plans on arching out the brick walls to connect both buildings. The current kitchen space will be taken apart and converted into a bar area with additional seating.
