Theyre desperate, Catalytic converter thieves bitten by OKCPD K-9 and arrested on business property – KFOR Oklahoma City - January 25, 2022 by Mr HomeBuilder

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) One of the hottest trends is happening around Oklahoma, according to the Oklahoma City Police Department, is stealing catalytic converters.

Catalytic converters continue to be a problem throughout the metro, said Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department. People continue to steal them. The metal obviously is easy for them to take to a recycling place.

But Oklahoma Roofing and Sheet Metal Company is giving thanks to its security cameras that helped capture two men stealing converters from the companys trucks.

Its the only thing I can think. Its winter, and theyre desperate. So desperate times call for desperate measures, said Wayne Gorman with Oklahoma Roofing and Sheet Metal Company. Theyve been getting underneath the trucks and taking off the catalytic converters.

Chad Routh and Jessie Fitch were allegedly caught on camera roaming around the property, stealing the companys truck catalytic converters, police said.

Both suspects crawled underneath a metal fence to get their hands on the converters Sunday night, according to police.

The pair attempted to run but didnt get far.

The security company that monitors the property gave police instructions and directions as to where the suspects had gone.

Officers deployed a drone to help spot one of the suspects, said Knight. A K-9 unit was on the scene, which also apprehended the other suspect, so that suspect apprehended by the K-9 did suffer a dog bite on his arm. It was a minor bite.

Gorman told KFOR this incident isnt the first time.

In the past 45 days, security cameras have helped capture two more suspects before Routh and Fitch.

Its a very big headache. I mean, we have trucks that need to be on the road making money for Oklahoma roofing, said Gorman.

Both suspects were booked into the Oklahoma County Jail and face grand larceny charges.

Springfield schools to spend almost $1 million to replace Glendale High’s leaky roof over cafeteria, library – News-Leader - January 25, 2022 by Mr HomeBuilder

After years of patching a large, leaky section of roof at Glendale High School, the district will spend nearly $1 million to rip off and replace the covering.

Travis Shaw, executive director of operations, said the 40,000-square-foot area over the cafeteria, library and boiler room has been problematic and a thorough investigation showed patching that portion of the roof is no longer advisable.

He said while a "tear off" roof project is rare in the district, it is the best course of action in this situation.

"We've had leaks for a significant number of years and so we've been able to fix those," he said. "But then we just continued to see some problems."

Pressed by the school board Tuesday, Shaw said the district had used the same roofing company to repeatedly repair the large section. But a company with different expertise was brought in to find the source of the issue.

More: Springfield school district expects to wrap up bond projects in 2022, then decide what comes next

"We went through a thorough investigation with the roof and found that we have what is called phenolic foam insulation, which is over the metal decking," he explained. "And when this insulation gets wet, it creates a lot of acidic compounds and has a corrosive effect on the metal deck over long periods of time."

He said, at a minimum, the company hired for the project, Reynold's Construction, will need to do "rust mitigation" for the entire metal deck in this large section.

"And then we've got several hundred square feet that are going to be replaced, or at least reinforced, as part of this complete tear off," he said.

Shaw said the district can typically avoid tearing off aging roofs and fix any issue with an overlay. But that is not an option here.

"This is a situation, in this area, that has become quite a problem," he said.

The work is expected to be done this summer but Shaw said he brought it to the school board now due to rising costs for some materials and pandemic-related supply chain delays.

The school board voted 7-0 to spend $984,563 on the project, which accounts for nearly two-thirds of the $1.5 million the district allocates for roof repairs each year. The amountwill come out of next year's capital projects fund.

More: Springfield's former Boyd Elementary, built in 1911, declared a 'surplus property'

Shaw said phenolic foam insulation, used years ago in other school roofs as well, only becomes an issue when it gets wet.

"When you have problems with leaks, it tends to create this extensive issue that requires a tear off and then more construction than usually would happen," he said.

Asked if the district will have enough money available if roof repairs at other schools are needed, Shaw said yes.

He said between work associated with the 2019 bond issue and funds allocated from the annual capital projects budget, the district has been able to address many of the most pressing roofing needs.

Shaw said the district hasnot always have a good plan in place for the timely repair and replacement of roofs but the capital projects team cataloged the age and condition of all roofs and came up with a priority list.

"We have a plan in place now for future leaders down the road that we are being able to replace all our roofs once the warranty reaches its end life," he said. "We're not dealing with 40-year-old roofs but 25-year-old roofs."

Expert weighs in on winter roofing issues | Local News – WJFW-TV - January 25, 2022 by Mr HomeBuilder

Tomahawk-For many homeowners across the Northwoods, there are some common issues which come up with winter weather costing time and money from repairs. Roofing expert and owner of Bear Renovations, Mike Barnes, says many people might underestimate how much snow a roof can hold or how ice dams can damage their property.

    Winter Roof Issues 01-19-2022

"Ice dams can cause all types of damage to the dry wall and woodwork inside of homes," says Barnes. "We do ice dam removal, but we havent seen any ice damming thats requiring that as of yet and itll generally come in February or March," said Barnes.

Barnes believes new homeowners or transplants to the area might not realize just how bad build up from snow or ice can be to a roof. "Itll find a way to creep into the home and youll start noticing it around your windows coming into your drywall," said Barnes. If homeowners are noticing issues, Barnes has some good steps to follow.

"If you're seeing a lot of iciclesgrowing off of your rain gutters, take a long stick and remove those. They're adding extra weight and can cause damage to your rain gutter systems," said Barnes.

President Biden Says Yesterday BBB Bill Will Be Cut Into Pieces Designed To Pass Congress: Solar Tax Credit Extensions And Other Green Energy Funding… - January 25, 2022 by Mr HomeBuilder

At his press conference yesterday, President Biden says he will cut Build Back Better (BBB) bill into segments designed to pass it piecemeal in Congress. At stake is green alternative energy funding including extended tax credits for solar installation. For solar installers, such as Solar Integrated Roofing Corp. (OTC PINK: SIRC), passage of this segment is critical. SIRC will be watching how the re-formatted bill would be presented.

stockmarketpress.com features specialized coverage of related stocks in the solar, roofing, EV charging stations and battery charging energy industry such as Solar Integrated Roofing Corp. (OTC PINK: SIRC), Sunburn, Inc. (NASDAQ: RUN), Blink Charging Co. (NASDAQ: BLNK), Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA), GM (NYSE: GM), SolarEdge Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: SEDG), First Solar, Inc. (NASDAQ: FSLR), SunPower (NASDAQ: SPWR), Gibraltar Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: ROCK), Spartan Acquisition Corp. II (NYSE: SPRQ). and Canadian Solar Inc. (NASDAQ: CSIQ)

President Biden Says Yesterday BBB Bill Will Be Cut Into Pieces Designed To Pass Congress: Solar Tax Credit Extensions And Other Green Energy Funding At Stake; Solar Integrated Roofing Corp. (OTC PINK: SIRC) And Other Solar Installers Are Watching Reformatting Of Bil

Solar installers like SIRC see the tax credits as vital to selling solar to consumers and business prospects. The tax credits serve as a valuable issue in SIRC and others being able to close installation sales. Bidens BBB Bill Wont Happen Until 2022 And Solar Tax Credit Extensions May Be Reduced Or Cut If A Smaller Bill Becomes Law; Solar Integrated Roofing Corp. (OTC PINK: SIRC) And Other Installers Are Watching Washington DC

The Administration BBB has already passed the Democratic-majority House. Unable to pass the Senate and missing several deadlines now Biden says yesterday he will have to impose a new tactic. This. He floated the idea in the press conference of submitting a reformatted BBB bill to the Senate in pieces or segments to win passage.

Now solar installers are are intrigued and wondering in which segment the green energy funding will be included. On the positive side, some Republicans as well as Democrat Joe Manchin have gone on record saying they like the segment of the bill which addresses the environment. That could be good news for alternative green energy such as solar.

Other sections of the BBB are seen as too costly and not vital to BBBs passage.

For solar advocates, such as SIRC, if the segment including solar tax credits was included first, this would be a great and important development.

More and longer federal tax credits would help solar installers, such as SIRC, close more solar system sales this year. The timing would also be helpful because it would drive pressure for potential buyers to commit now.

The BBB bill is geared more to social infrastructure and includes solar tax credits. Bidens Infrastructure bill is now law with its built-in support for EVs.

SIRC is an applicant for some $80 million in EV Charging Station grants to build and install more units. President Biden Says Yesterday BBB Bill Will Be Cut Into Pieces Designed To Pass Congress: Solar Tax Credit Extensions And Other Green Energy Funding At Stake; Solar Integrated Roofing Corp. (OTC PINK: SIRC) And Other Solar Installers Are Watching Reformatting Of Bill.

Washington insiders last year predicted passage of a downsized BBB bill. Now they are not so sure, as inflation makes BBB a mid-term election issue in upcoming elections. If BBB is seen as any factor in contributing to higher or longer inflation, Senators may not be as eager to pass it.

So the question now is that form will the new BBB take. How far will Senators slash BBB funding and how will solar tax credits be impacted?

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) in its analysis believes that the bill BBB bill in its initial form would add some $400 billion to the federal budget deficit. A study by the Wharton School says BBB will cost even more to the U.S. taxpayer north of $3 billion.

Solar installers, such as Solar Integrated Roofing Corp. (OTC PINK: SIRC), are awaiting final approval of the new bill because It could drive perks for solar buyers. An extension of federal tax credits for as long as 10 years could mean more installations. More funding for production of domestic solar panels manufacturers could blunt price hikes and market share won by imported models.

The new spending package calls for the biggest spending program on climate investment in U.S. history.

East Texas roofing companies and housing market affected by price increase of building materials – KETK | FOX51 | EastTexasMatters.com - December 28, 2021 by Mr HomeBuilder

TYLER, Texas (KETK) The cost of building materials is going up again at the beginning of the new year. Two East Texas roofing companies say theyve been told by their suppliers they will be seeing an increase of anywhere between 5% to 25%.

COVID caused a lot of suppliers to close to keep theiremployeessafe, but it caused a lot of companies to get behind on stock. Now, with cargo ships stuck at ports, we are seeing a decrease in important materials needed to repair your home.

You have the availability issue and now we have the continued price increase, supply and demand. We all know whensuppliesare low and demand is high, the price goes up and thatsfor a number ofreasons, said Jacob Law, Chief Operations Officer and Co-owner of Stonewater Roofing. Theyhave tocontinue to run a business over there and theyre turning out as much as they can, but pricing increases are coming.

The changes go down the chain until they reach local companies. Most homeowners wont see a big difference in repair costs if they haveinsurance, butpaying with cash could empty your pockets.

In the roofing industry I dont see any price decreases likely within the next 12 months to two years. I think its just going to continue to rise. So, specificallyhome ownersthat are looking to get a good deal, you probably want to do this sooner than later, said Phil Goodwin, Regional Sales Manager of Good Choice Roofing.

The housing market in East Texas is booming. A lot of people are selling their houses and many want to move. New houses are constantly going up, but withlackof materials, so are the prices fora home.

The builders are able topricetheir homes to really meet their need for building, said Melissa Thornburg, Realtor with Quality Choice Solutions.

Items likeappliances, windows andcabinetsare facing delays of anywhere from a few months to more than a year.

Auburn roofing company spreads its wings and spreads the love – Enumclaw Courier-Herald - December 28, 2021 by Mr HomeBuilder

We all need a helping hand every now and then, but sometimes we need even more than thatwe need a Guardian angel with a well-polished Halo!

Buying a first home should be a joyous event and that joy should carry on into the future as you and yours build memories and grow together. Thats what Luke and Sarah Lenihan were expecting when they took the plunge and bought their starter home for their family of five.

    A dream, a nightmare and a miracle

With three children, daughter Remi (6), son Ryker (4), and newborn son Reuben, they were excited to begin renovations to make the home their own but the dream soon took a nasty turn.

They had done everything right, making sure they got a professional inspection and signed the papers in good faith but their joy was short lived. A poorly done building inspection meant that the attic-playroom project that should have been straight forward was suddenly a massive problem.

Mold and rot in the roof, floor and around the windows meant that the potential cost to do the renovation sky-rocketedeven experts said it was too difficult to fix and refused to touch it. They tried several paths to recover their losses or at least find some compensation, but nothing worked. Their dream home was not so dreamy but help was on the way.

Angels come in all shapes and sizes

Every year, Guardian Roofing helps a family in the community that needs a hand through the Halo Project.

Its a simple idea: community members can nominate a family that needs some help with a roofing project. Sarahs mother took a chance and posted about Guardian Roofings Halo Project on Facebook. Pretty soon, the Lenihans had over 105 nominations and before they knew it, Guardian Roofing was letting them know that they had won.

The work was completed and the impossible, according to other roofing companies, became a reality. Miracles really do come true with the right know how, determination and a generous dollop of kindness! Luke Lenihan notes that, It was really amazing to hear that a company was willing to help a family in need and Guardian has just been amazing every step of the way.
