Seattle Roofing Company, Johnson Roofing, Relocates Just in Time for a Busy Summer of Righting Natures Wrongs - May 31, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) May 30, 2013

Seattle roofing and gutter experts, Johnson Roofing & Gutters, proudly announces the relocation of their home base and central office. This move from Shoreline to a more central Seattle location on Midvale Ave. N, will allow Johnson Roofing to service a wider range with better access to most of the Greater Seattle area. The timing of this move couldn't be better with the busy Summer months right around the corner.

The Summer months are logically the most popular time to call a professional Seattle roofer for repairs or replacements. One reason being that the stable Summer weather makes for better, less messy working conditions that can aid in clean-up.

However, a more important factor is that summer is the best time of year to deal with these most roof damaging natural forces:

Sun - Of course the sun is a big contributor to shingle and flashing deterioration. Summer is a great time to hit the reset button and replace shingles and gutters while limiting collateral damage that rain can incur. West and South facing surfaces should be inspected more carefully.

Rain - After even a mild Winter/Spring, with lower than average rainfall, the damage done to the roof by rain is problematic. Minor damage that limits or redirects water flow can cause it to pool in unwanted areas, rotting roofing materials and other structural elements. A yearly Summer inspection can help to find previously unidentified damage.

Wind - It doesn't take gale force winds to damage roofing tiles. Improperly positioned or loose shingles can be blown of in much milder conditions, common throughout the rainy season. Summer's stable air masses are the perfect time to repair these problems.

Moss & Algae - Enjoying life in the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest has is price. For roof health, that price is in the damage from the proliferation of mosses and algae. Summer, when green living organisms begin to lose moisture and dry out is the best time of year to remove these natural enemies of the roof.

Trees - Fallen tree limbs from Spring and Winter storms can clog gutter and re-direct water away from a roofs intended design, causing tile damage. Heavier limbs can even damage tiles themselves. Summer is the perfect time to remove dead, fallen debris.

Fauna - A catch all for all the little beasties that wreak havoc on roofs. Squirrels, nesting birds, raccoons and woodpeckers can all do substantial damage to roof shingles and flashing. An early summer inspection for nests or other compromised roofing areas can save you from a much larger repair bill.

ISO Cover Boards protect roofing from storms and hail. - May 31, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

GAF Materials Corp. 1361 Alps Road Wayne, NJ, 07470, USA

WAYNE, NJ GAF, North Americas largest roofing manufacturer, announces the production of high-density polyisocyanurate (ISO) cover boards, which can be used as a protective layer over boardstock insulation or as a recover over an existing roofing system. These cover boards offer superior roof protection from foot traffic, storms, and hail, while also offering the benefit of being easy to install due to their light weight.

GAF offers two versions: HD with over 80 psi, and HD PLUS with over 110 psi compressive strength and a durable coated glass facer. Each of these boards is an ideal choice for protecting your roof from the elements and rooftop traffic. GAF EnergyGuard HD is a thick high-density ISO cover board with an R-value of 2.5, the highest of any cover boardand, at 11lbs.(HD) 13lbs.(HD PLUS) per 4 X 8 board, its a fraction of the weight of gypsum cover boards.

Aside from its high R-value, which contributes additional energy savings to the roofing system and the building, GAF has the ability to ship three times more product on one truck than gypsum cover boards. Using fewer trucks means less carbon emissions, with the added benefit of taking less time to unload at the jobsite.

Our new GAF High Density Cover Board is a key component for a more resilient roofing system from single ply to asphaltic, stated Justin Hardy, GAF product manager at GAF. The ability to protect a roof from traffic and impact while adding R-value performance is a game changer.

Roofing business adds construction, dent removal - May 30, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

Bad weather has been good to Michael Lent.

Lent started New Image Roofing just before 2006s big hailstorm and has Mother Nature to thank for much of his business since then, including last weeks nasty weather.

As soon as that storm was over, our phones starting blowing up, he said.

But Lent isnt relying solely on roofs to grow his business. He added construction and remodeling to his companys line of work a couple of years ago, and more recently opened 1st Class Dent Removal for vehicles in the same building.

Ive always been a business owner and entrepreneur, he said.

Lent, 30, grew up in Andover, earned a business degree from Wichita State University and then owned his own landscaping company. When Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast in 2005, he went to work for a Wichita roofing company that sent crews to the area.

It was winter time, and they were looking for help, he said. I decided to try something new. I learned a lot.

So much, in fact, that he started doing his own roofing jobs in the New Orleans area and then went into the business full time upon returning to Wichita.

It was perfect timing, he said.

His brother, Alex, 28, joined the company as a sales consultant in 2009, about the time the business moved from West Kellogg to downtown and added the construction work.
