Central Roofing Receives Official Recognition as GAF Master Elite™ Roofing Installer - February 29, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

    (PRWEB) February 29, 2012

Central Roofing, which has operated in the Halifax area since 1999, offers commercial and residential roofing solutions, and specializes in asphalt shingling and flat roofing. It completes over 100 roofs annually, ranging from large commercial buildings to private homes. For the past eight years, the roofer has offered GAF Timberline Lifetime Shingles, which provide rugged, dependable performance.

The Master Elite accreditation is offered by GAF, North Americas top roofing manufacturer, to only 3% of all roofing contractors. To become a Master Elite roofing contractor, Central Roofing (Centralroofing.ca) demonstrated that it has a solid reputation for quality roofing, is fully licensed and insured, and is committed to ongoing professional training. The alignment with GAF pegs Central Roofing as a top quality roofer, providing worry-free roofing solutions that are designed to stand up to the difficult climate and weather conditions in the Maritimes.

The Timberline color palette and industry-leading warranties on its shingles and accessories have made it the #1 selling roofing shingle in North America, according to the GAF.com website. Given Central Roofings unique factory-certified status, the roofs installed with GAF are eligible for special warranties all backed by GAFs financial clout as a leading roofing manufacturer. Furthermore, GAF shingles have received the Good Housekeeping seal of approval, which indicates their exceptional properties in terms of performance (self-sealing), reliability (warranty options) and appearance (non-fading properties).

The Maritimes difficult climate (freeze/thaw) creates many roofing challenges. Problems due to improperly installed roofs are legendary. Poor installations can cause leaks, which leads to costly water damage. In addition, mistakes in the nailing pattern in which shingles are applied and the type of nails used can lead to sub-standard roofs that blow off during the high winds typically experienced during the regions hurricane season. GAF has strict guidelines to meet in order to achieve their maximum wind warranty installation.

Central Roofing stays current with the latest roofing installation techniques to ensure that rooftops are safeguarded against the weather. The roofer recently added PVC walkable roof systems to its product lineup. Roof decks, terraces and large balconies are increasingly popular options to expand outdoor space. While most roofing products are not suitable to withstand pedestrian traffic on outdoor rooftop areas, PVC membranes have many advantages over other types of roofing materials, including ease of installation, durability and low maintenance requirements.

About Central Roofing: Central Roofing is a Halifax-based roofing contractor, specializing in asphalt shingling and flat roofing. Its status as a GAF factory certified Master Elite roofing installer shows its reputation as a quality, dependable roofing installer. Its commitment to providing high-quality roofing products extends to PVC walkable roof systems for rooftop decks and terraces.

Metal Mart's roofing materials save money; steel buildings provide space - February 28, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

Since 1985 Metal Mart has been supplying contractors and do-it-yourselfers with metal building materials. Whether it’s a big or small project, visit Metal Mart at 4309 Idalou Road, for the supplies and advice you need to get the job done right.

Why consider using metal materials for your next home improvement project? Metal is aesthetically pleasing and designed for high performance. With many colors and panel profiles available, you will find what you need for all your home improvement projects.

Among other specialties, Metal Mart is known for their metal roofing materials and their exclusive easy-bolt prefabricated steel buildings. For contractors and architects, metal roofing is an excellent option for many reasons. Don’t let the sleek look of a metal roof fool you – its durability is unsurpassed compared to traditional roofing materials. A steel roof is hail and fire resistant, and metal roofing materials are UL® rated and provide protection from wind-blown fire embers.

Energy efficiency is a great reason to get a metal roof. By replacing your traditional roof with a modern metal roof you will save on energy costs. Instead of absorbing solar energy, a metal roof reflects solar energy. As a result, the roof remains cooler and reduces heat transfer into your home. It also cools off faster than other materials.

And a metal roof can reduce your homeowners insurance. Replace your shingle roof with a metal roof can qualify for discounts on homeowner’s insurance premiums, up to 35 percent off for homeowners in Texas.

If you need more than a metal roof, Metal Mart can supply you the materials for a steel building. Metal Mart’s exclusive simplified system makes putting together a new steel building quick and easy. The easy-bolt prefabricated steel buildings include all the components to effortlessly construct a garage, storage shed, workshop or barn without welding. The buildings meet IBC Code.

The buildings come in a number of different colors. The addition of different combinations of doors and windows give each building varying looks, depending on your use of the building. Metal Mart can provide you with up to 120 feet wide clear span and whatever length you may need. Along with the steel building materials, you also get easy to read blueprints and anchor bolt layouts, and the Metal Mart staff can offer guidance for the assembly.

If replacing your roof or erecting a building yourself is out of the question, Metal Mart has a list of preferred contractors who have a great track record with such projects.

Metal Mart also specializes in metal building components, metal fences, metal carports, and much more. Choose Metal Mart for the materials, tools and advice to complete all your metal projects.

3C Network Revolutionizes Roofing Industry for Consumers, Contractors and Carriers - February 28, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

OMAHA, NE--(Marketwire -02/27/12)- To eliminate the biggest problems that historically plague the roofing industry, 3C Network has been created to transform the repair/replace process for consumers, contractors and carriers. Launched in conjunction with the annual International Roofing Expo in Orlando, Fla., 3C Network gives its roofing-contractor members a full spectrum of high-performance integrated services, proprietary technology and professional business support at their fingertips.

L.C. Nussbeck, co-founder of 3C Network, says its mission is to meet and exceed homeowners' expectations by enabling contractors to fundamentally improve their quality, speed and productivity. "Not only does 3C Network streamline and help improve every aspect of a contractor's business for better consumer results," he explained, "it also provides greater professionalism and consistency for all of the companies that are associated with restoring or building a roof."

Nussbeck continued, "Now serious roofing contractors can maximize their existing organization, capabilities and momentum by utilizing 3C Network's game-changing, and truly effective, technology, tools, education and other resources -- all to achieve never-before-seen results." 3C Network members have access to:

high-performance job inspection and scoping tools for accurate, thorough estimates tied to a rules engine to identify regulations, local codes and insurance requirements; roofing management software with data integration, organization, reporting and controls; their choice of premium aerial CAD reports at a discounted rate; no-hassle extended warranty options on all materials and work; industry-smart training and certification programs; safety tools; and big savings on technology.

    Focused on technology
For the first time, 3C Network allows its members to perform and have access to affordable tools that may have been out of reach previously for the typical roofing contractor. "The investment to bring cutting-edge technology together into a simple interface gives contractors on-demand control from the job site, the truck or the office," added Todd Keener, 3C Network's chief information officer. "These technology solutions create trust among consumers and their insurance carriers and make our members a reliable choice to perform any roofing, siding and guttering replacement and repairs."

Specifically, 3C Network provides each member with a subscription to roof-IS, a customized roofing-management software program that allows contractors to further organize and manage their business. In addition, it's integrated with other technologies to streamline workflow with the ability to order aerial CADs and consume the measurements. One example of those digital tools is ScopeAssist, which facilitates the inspection, measuring and estimating process, and integrates with roof-IS to order materials and warranties, view reports, manage projects, and control margins in a matter of seconds.

    'A change agent'
"The bottom line is 3C Network is committed to its member contractors by listening to their individual needs, while providing an immense, scalable platform to empower change in the industry," Nussbeck stated. "The power to connect contractors to on-demand access of their data and supporting third-party data makes it a change agent for the betterment of consumers, contractors and carriers."

3C Network is an exclusive, by invitation-only member network focused on providing consumers with higher standards in roofing, guttering and siding through a network of members using 3C Network's technologies and services. The pathway to membership is through alliances with manufacturers, suppliers and service partners who collaborated to build its suite of services.

Headquartered in Omaha, Neb., 3C Network has more than 75 employees and plans to hire an additional 30 employees by this May. Visit http://www.3C.com for more information about the network and its member contractors.

Roofing project leads to blaze next to Crockett senior living center - February 26, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

A roofing project on a vacated commercial building led to a fire that interrupted a nearby funeral, not to mention a quiet weekend afternoon at a senior living center next door.

Nobody was injured during the two-alarm blaze on Wanda Street, assistant fire Chief Harold Burnett, of the Crockett-Carquinez Fire Department said. But residents in the four-story senior center were evacuated, and one was treated by paramedics for non-life-threatening issues, Burnett said.

Fire crews were about a block away when the fire broke out about 11:10 a.m., Burnett said, attending a church funeral service for a retired member of the department who had died recently.

"We were able to get there immediately," Burnett said. "That part of it was fortunate."

Burnett said a man who was doing the repair work on the roof of what once was a laundromat called dispatch about 11 a.m. He had been repairing the roof, using propane torches, Burnett said.

"Because this building had been a laundromat, there was a ton of lint underneath where this man was using the torches," Burnett said. "He took preventive measures, but (the torch) hit the lint, and that shot right through the attic below it. He called immediately."

Crews had the fire under control in about 25 minutes, Burnett said, and the residents of the living center were allowed to return about 40 minutes after that.

The vacant building and the living center are separated by firewall that

would've impinged the flames for two hours, Burnett said. Crews from the Rodeo Fire Department, Pinole Fire and the city of Vallejo also responded.

Roofing structure collapses during freak storm - February 25, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

THE saying “lightning does not strike twice” did not apply to Arabaya, who was unfortunate enough to have her vehicle damaged by a roofing structure during two freak storms.

The latest incident happened yesterday near IOI Boulevard in Puchong, when a roof structure was blown off during an afternoon thunderstorm and landed on three cars that were parked along Jalan Kenari 7.

Arabaya’s colleague S. Ravisankar, who caught a snapshot of the incident, said three cars were damaged by the roof truss that had been blown off from an office shoplot.

“A Perodua Kenari suffered the worst damage as the roof truss landed smack on top of the car,” said the 27-year-old.

“Two cars parked next to the Kenari were also damaged — a Toyota Vios and a Proton Pesona belonging to Arabaya.”

Ravisankar said Arabaya suffered a similar incident last year, when a roofing structure was blown off and damaged her Proton Iswara.

According to him, police officers and Fire and Rescue Department personnel arrived shortly after the incident to cordon off the area and remove the debris.

At press time, the Vios and Pesona had been removed from the site.

A similar incident was reported in SS17, Subang Jaya, where a billboard collapsed onto a row of parked cars.

Roofing company moves to Ormond Beach - February 24, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

ORMOND BEACH -- Commercial Coating Pros, a roofing company with 25 employees, has moved its headquarters here to the city's business park, next to Ormond Beach Municipal Airport, from Daytona Beach.

The company, which has customers throughout the state, has added eight workers in the past year and had outgrown the 3,500-square-foot building at 1025 Sixth St., just west of Nova Road, in Daytona Beach that it had been leasing, said Guy Beasley, who co-founded the business in 2008 with business partner Johan Pretorius.

Beasley said the company "utterly outgrew where we were. It's a nice problem to have these days. We wanted to stay in Daytona, but we couldn't find a stand-alone building that wasn't too big."

The company moved last week to 6 Aviator Way, a 9,000-square-foot office/warehouse at Ormond Beach Airport Business Park, just off Airport Road.

Commercial Coating Pros signed a four-year lease for its new space, Beasley said.

Preston Rivers Properties LLC, based in Louisville, Ky., owns the building and recently completed some building improvements to make it more attractive to a prospective buyer or tenant. The building includes a 480-square-foot glass lobby, two offices, storage and equipment rooms, an air-conditioned warehouse, three large roll-up doors and a 1,000-square-foot mezzanine.

Claude Gardner, a broker with Daytona Beach-based Prudential Commercial Real Estate, was the leasing agent.

The building had been empty about seven months because a piping company consolidated operations at another site and vacated the Aviator Way property, said Joe Mannarino, the Ormond Beach economic development director.

"They're bringing jobs here and that's encouraging, and they're looking to expand a bit," Mannarino said of Commercial Coating Pros. "The business park just fits their needs."

Beasley credited the increase in business for Commercial Coating Pro in part to a switch in marketing priorities. The company is now less focused on building new roofs for industrial, commercial and manufacturing buildings and placing a greater emphasis on its products and services to repair and renovate roofs that increase the building's energy efficiency, which can result in a lowering of their electric bills.

"About 18 months ago we refocused the business and it's taken off," Beasley said. "We might do one new roof every six months now."

The company added two smaller offices in other parts of the state in 2010 -- one in West Palm Beach and the other in Englewood. Beasley and Pretorius are traveling to South Africa in two weeks to open an overseas branch office.

Roofing Contractors Recognized for Outstanding Workmanship - February 22, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

Sika Sarnafil announces Roofing Contractor of the Year Competition winners; the competition highlights visually stunning, energy efficient, and sustainable roofs. Winners of the 2011 competition include: TD Garden in Boston, MA; Grand Harbor Condominium in Destin, FL; Vertical Screen, Inc. in Warminster, PA; and Griffin Hall, Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, KY.

Canton, MA (PRWEB) February 21, 2012

Winners of the 2011 Roofing Contractor Project of the Year Competition were announced today by Sika Sarnafil, the worldwide market leader in thermoplastic roofing and waterproofing membranes. Judged on project complexity, design uniqueness, craftsmanship, and creative problem solving, the winners include: TD Garden in Boston, MA; Grand Harbor Condominium in Destin, FL; Vertical Screen, Inc. in Warminster, PA; and Griffin Hall, Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, KY.

A winner and two finalists in four different categories: Low Slope, Steep Slope, Waterproofing and Sustainability were recognized for outstanding workmanship in completing a project using a Sika Sarnafil thermoplastic membrane for roofing or waterproofing applications.

    Low Slope Category Winners

Greenwood Industries, Inc. of Millbury, MA won first place in the Low Slope category for the re-roofing of the TD Garden, the Boston landmark that is home to the Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics. The 19,600-seat arena has a distinctive barrel roof now covered with an energy-efficient Sika Sarnafil EnergySmart Roof® System. During the project Greenwood worked around a continuous schedule of TD Garden events and even withstood a hurricane to complete the project. The second place winner was All Weather Waterproofing, Inc., Salt Lake City, UT, for the Wilkinson Student Center at Brigham Young University, Provo, UT. Third place went to Letner Roofing Company, Inc., Orange, CA, for the Pacific Design Center “Red” Building in West Hollywood, CA.

    Steep Slope Category Winners

In the Steep Slope category, Bel-Mac Roofing, Inc., of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, was awarded first place for their work on Grand Harbor Condominium in Destin, FL. High winds, numerous roof levels, and a complex geometric roof design pushed the Bel-Mac crew. The company’s creative problem solving enabled them to install a watertight Sika Sarnafil Décor Roof System that preserves the upscale look established by the condo’s failed standing seam metal roof. Peach State Roofing, Inc., Lawrenceville, GA, was the second place finisher for the Catholic Center at the University of Georgia, Athens, GA, and Diamond Roofing Company, Inc., Syracuse, NY, was the third place finalist for the Finger Lakes Residential Center in Lansing, NY.

    Waterproofing Category Winners

Tecta America Zero Company, LLC, based in Cincinnati, OH, took first place in the Waterproofing class for Griffin Hall, Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, KY. The company battled terrible weather conditions and an aggressive schedule for this newly constructed facility, which involved three distinct roof areas and included a vegetated green roof protected by Sika Sarnafil’s G476 waterproofing membrane. Second place in this category went to A-1 Roofing Company, Elk Grove Village, IL, for the United Cargo Facility in Chicago, IL, and third place to CitiRoof Corporation in Columbia, MD, for the H.D. Woodson High School in Washington, D.C.

    Sustainability Category Winners

In the Sustainability category, Delta Contracting Services, Inc., of East Brunswick, NJ, was awarded first place for Vertical Screen, Inc.’s world headquarters in Warminster, PA. This visually stunning facility received the ninth highest LEED score in the world for newly constructed office buildings and garnered a LEED Platinum Certification. In second place was Morris Roofing & Sheet Metal Corporation, Springfield, MA, for the Mass Mutual headquarters in Springfield, MA, and in third place for this grouping was Progressive Roofing, LLC, of Phoenix, AZ for the Wells Fargo Arena at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ.

More than 30 contractors from around the U.S. submitted projects for evaluation in the annual Sika Sarnafil Contractor Project of the Year competition. First place winners were awarded cash prizes and all finalists were presented with recognition plaques.

“We are proud to honor these award winning project teams and salute them as champions of proven performance and design excellence," said Brian J. Whelan, Senior Vice President of Sika Sarnafil. “Congratulations to the winners of the 2011 Contractor Project of the Year competition.”

Accurence Introduces ScopeAssist, Transforming the Estimating Process for Roofing Contractors Through Scope Automation - February 22, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire -02/22/12)- Accurence, Inc., the software solution provider that invented the onsite inspection and automated scoping software category for property insurance claims adjusters, introduced today at the 2012 International Roofing Expo in Orlando, Florida, its software-based solution, ScopeAssist™ for roofing contractors.

Building upon their success of SettleAssist that is revolutionizing wind and hail insurance claim settlement for the property insurance industry, Accurence developed ScopeAssist to drive unprecedented accuracy in estimating for roofing contractors by transforming and standardizing the scope automation process.

At the job site, even the best contractors have difficulty correctly scoping roofs and siding. Contractors are required to identify materials, apply complex aerial CAD reports, and provide professional estimates notating various hazards such as steep, multi-stories, and accessibility. Getting these steps right is challenging and takes time that otherwise could be spent with the homeowner or servicing new leads. Accurate and consistent estimation depends largely upon a contractor's knowledge, memory, interpretations, decision-making, and hand-written notes.

ScopeAssist™ - Onsite Scope Automation Technology for Roofing Contractors

Built by contractors for contractors, ScopeAssist is an easy to use, two-step solution that transforms the onsite scope automation process so that roofing contractors can focus on the customer.

Digital inspection tool: The contractor uses a ScopeAssist app on a mobile device -- instead of the traditional pen and pad of paper -- to gather inspection data onsite. Decision intelligence engine (cloud-based software): The inspection data is then transmitted wirelessly to the proprietary ScopeAssist decision intelligence engine, which automates the following proactive steps within 90 seconds: Validates inspection data Builds a model of the situation Applies numerous rule sets based on geometry, best practices, guidelines, cost estimating data, building codes and aerial CAD data as available, etc. Automates the scope of repair Integrates with a third party cost estimating tool to generate an estimate

"Insurance companies partner with Accurence to manage the consistency and quality of their field personnel," stated Jake Labrie, VP of Business Development for Accurence. "It is a logical evolution for contractors with field personnel conducting similar activities to seek out Accurence's technology -- ScopeAssist. Roofing managers are benefiting from the peace of mind, speed, and scalability ScopeAssist delivers."

As validation of the demand in the roofing industry for ScopeAssist, Accurence also announced today it has entered into a long-term preferred technology partnership agreement with 3C Network for broad implementation of ScopeAssist nationwide. 3C Network is a national network of response-ready storm damage repair experts and roof-product manufacturers and suppliers. Each of 3C Network's members now has full access to the ScopeAssist product.

Labrie added, "Year over year, the roofing industry evolves as standardization improves, through pricing systems, aerial measuring technology, and now an unparalleled scope automation solution and a retail and disaster restoration contractor development organization like 3C."

"Accurence is the partner provider our members use to build trust with consumers and their insurance carriers," said L.C. Nussbeck, co-founder of 3C Network. "Their ScopeAssist solution reduces friction and assists contractors to accurately produce reliable estimates, while enabling the carrier to determine what's covered."

"We are excited about our technology partnership with 3C Network," said Romney Williams, President of Accurence. "3C's commitment to revolutionize the roofing industry and restore trust between roofing contractors and insurance carriers aligns extremely well with Accurence's vision to make the wind and hail claims process more accurate, consistent, and efficient -- which translates to tremendous benefits for homeowners, carriers, and contractors."

    About Accurence, Inc.
