CARMARTHEN Men's Sheds is set to keep the town's traditions alive with the help of almost 4,000 of funding.
The group, formed to get men out of lonely sheds at the bottom of their gardens, is helping to keep Carmarthen's ancient tradition of the coracle alive, as well as learning beehive construction, with the help of the Big Lottery Fund's Awards for All scheme.
Men's Sheds has been awarded 3,900 by the scheme.
The group have also pledged to plant 16,000 daffodils in Carmarthen one for each member of the town's population.
The coracle or cwrwgl, as it's known in Welsh, dates back centuries and the tradition of coracle-making is one that is passed on from one generation to the next.
With their award the Carmarthen Men's Sheds organisation will see this wonderful Welsh tradition continue.
The Carmarthen Men's Sheds who also like to call themselves 'the Sheddau Warriors' are an ambitious bunch, and not content to simply build their craft and take it out for a gentle sail along the banks of the Towy crew also want to race in it.
Carmarthen Men's Sheds member Robert Narayan- Taylor said: "We're delighted to have won this award and are looking forward to adding a splash of colour to the town and I'm not just talking about the flowers here.
"What's the old adage 'build it and they will come'.

Shed load of cash helps to keep traditions alive
THE DEAL (New York) -- Mars, the purveyor of Snickers and M&M's, expanded its pet food business on Wednesday with a deal to acquire Procter & Gamble's (PG) pet food brands Iams, Eukanuba and Natura for $2.9 billion in cash.
The deal includes most, but not all, of Procter & Gamble's pet care business. Assets representing about 80% of Procter & Gamble's global pet care sales will change hands in the deal, including operations in North America, Latin America and other countries. Markets including the European Union are not part of the sale. The consumer giant said it plans to sell its pet-related assets in those markets separately.
Mars has an option to acquire pet-related businesses in several additional countries. The Cincinnati-based company said net proceeds from the transaction would be used for general corporate purposes.
The transaction is expected to be completed in the second-half of 2014, pending regulatory approval.

Intel is changing its financial reporting structure in a way that should shed more light on how its embedded Internet of things efforts are working as well as its mobile processors.
The structure, which will be unveiled April 15 when the company reports first quarter earnings, will break down like this:

Intel is expected to report first quarter earnings of 37 cents a share on revenue of $12.81 billion, up 2 percent from a year ago. Analysts have been more upbeat about Intel due to corporate spending on desktops.
For instance, Pacific Crest analyst Michael McConnell upgraded shares of Intel Monday based on enterprise PC demand. He said:
Recent supply chain conversations suggest that PC OEM orders for corporate platforms have accelerated in Q1. Most interestingly, forecasts indicate that strong corporate demand will continue into Q2, despite the expiration of XPsupport in April.
