Operators of a chicken farm where giant sheds were built almost 60ft too long should be made to abide by their original planning permission, a senior councillor has said.
Cllr Ian Bates was disappointed that a major player in the industry should have breached its approval for the sheds at Hemingford Grey.
He said planners at Huntingdonshire District Council should treat the problem in the same way as the cinema at St Neots where part of the structure was moved after it was found to have been built in the wrong place.
Cllr Bates, a former leader of Huntingdonshire District Council who represents the area of the chicken farm, said: It is very, very disappointing that a company of this stature hasnt been able to manage the project to the permissions it has been granted.
Amber Real Estate Investments, part of one of the countrys biggest chicken producers, has had to reapply for permission for the eight chicken sheds which opened recently at the site near the St Ives junction on the A14.
The sheds are about 338ft long instead of 280ft which had been approved.
Residents who had been concerned about the impact of the farm, which replaced a smaller unit, spotted that the buildings were too big and alerted enforcement officers at the council.

Urlacher sheds light on NFLers faking injuries
By The Sports Xchange
Most players and teams hide the fact that they fake injuries from time to time to slow down an opponent's offence, but former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher acknowledged this week that it's common practice.
Fox Sports 1's new analyst, whose NFL career ended in March when he rejected the Bear' offer to re-sign, said players acting like they were hurt was a scheme to counteract high-powered, fast-paced, no-huddle offences.
"We had a guy who was the designated dive guy," Urlacher said, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
The former All-Pro said a Bears coach would make a diving motion to signal a player when to go down with an injury. It was more prevalent on a long drive when a defense was winded, Urlacher said.
"It wasn't coached," he said, "but it was part of our game plan."
Faking injuries became a topic of conversation this past weekend after California fans accused Northwestern players of the illegal tactic during last Saturday's non-conference college football game. Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald denied that his players were mimicking injuries during the Wildcats' 44-30 victory in order to slow down Cal's fast-paced offence.

After seven years of receiving the funding from the central government for constructing 856 kitchen sheds in government schools of rural areas in Indore under the midday meal scheme, the project is finally expected to complete after a delay of two years by the end of this year.
The IMC which coordinates between the state government, schools and the local Panchayat had to construct 856 kitchen sheds in government schools for which the ministry of human resource and development had provided funding to the state government in 2006.
There are almost 39 unfinished kitchen sheds in Indore schools which are yet to be completed.
"There were 856 kitchen sheds had to be constructed at the beginning and in 2009-10, we received a list of 200 schools with unfinished kitchen," said midday meal in charge in Indore, Mukesh Verma.
Sources claimed that all such sheds had to be completed within a year from receiving the instructions.
Verma claimed that despite of this delay, Indore is one of the leading districts to have completed the target of constructing all the kitchen sheds in Madhya Pradesh.
"Indore is in the top ten districts in the state where the target is almost achieved," he said. Officials claimed that constantly changing Sarpanch in several villages as well as funding issues were the major impediments for the delay of constructing the sheds.
"Sarpanch of different villages changed during these years as well as many raised issues with the funding of Rs 7,000 for construction per shed which delayed the project," Verma said.

ZURICH, SWITZERLAND (EVN/SRF) -Zurich has opened its first drive-in sex sheds in an attempt to regulate prostitution and move it out of the city center.
There are nine garage-like wooden boxes that clients can park their cars and use.
The boxes will be equipped with alarm buttons and posters encouraging safe sex practices. There will also be security presence on site.
The sheds only accommodate one car at time. There can only be one person per car, and clients must be over 18.
Authorities in the Swiss city want to stop sex workers from openly attracting clients in the city's Sihlquai district.
"Prostitution is a business basically. We cannot prohibit it, so we want to control it in favor of the sex workers and the population," Michael Herzig, director of social services for sex workers in the city, told AFP.
"Because if we do not control it, organized crime will take over as well as the pimps." he added.
Surrounded by a high fence, there is a track which clients drive around, choose a prostitute and negotiate a price. They then park in one of the boxes.
Before the shed came around, clients took prostitutes to a nearby forest or outside the city, where the sex workers often found themselves in dangerous situations.
"Here, they remain on site and can deal with customers quickly," said Ursula Kocher, director of Flora Dora, a support network for prostitutes.
