Thailand-based FoodStar's juice is subject to examination by Myanmar's food-safety authorities for alleged contamination with coliform and mould, Eleven Media reported.

According to lab results from the Myanmar Ministry of Cooperatives, samples of coliform and mould have been found in DeeDo juice.

If consumed, the inedible fungus in the food can cause massive intestinal and stomach cancers, said Ba Oak Khine, chairman of that country's Consumer Protection Association.

Tin Zaw of the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs said: "We have given directions to the offices in nine regions and districts to examine whether [contamination] has occurred in Yangon or in other places. Then, we will immediately send the samples to the Food and Drug Administration Department and wait for the results. We will take action depending on the outcome."

Established in 1993, FoodStar has manufactured and distributed juice and yoghurt beverages under the DeeDo brand, which has been exported to many countries.

Glance at the Past - February 6, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    102 YEARS AGO Feb. 6, 1912

    - The Union Lumber Company is making a number of improvements in the mill. A new power set has recently been installed on the south side carriage and is giving good satisfaction. Compressed air cylinders have now been put in to raise the trimmer saws. This will be a great labor saver and enable the trimmer man to do more accurate work. The three carriages are also being overhauled.

    - At Mitchell Saturday night at about 9 o'clock, Mr. G. C. Lemmon and Miss Ells Fern were united in holy bonds of matrimony by Judge Whipple at the home of the bride's sister, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sallinen. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a bounteous repast followed by dancing in the parlor, which was handsomely decorated for the occasion. A number of useful and ornamental presents were received by the bride and groom. After an evening of much improvement, the guests departed for their homes, wishing the happy couple a long, happy and prosperous life.

    - T. De Bernardi is up from San Francisco and is setting out fruit trees on his ranch on the other side of Noyo. Before returning to San Francisco, he intends to put out 500 choice trees and otherwise improve his place. He is the kind of man we like to see locate in our midst.

    - Carlton Curtis has returned from a five-months trip abroad. During his travels, he visited London, South America and Panama. Rumor states that he is to take charge of the railroad the first of March.

    - Miss Clara Saunders and brother Elmer left for San Francisco Friday afternoon where Elmer will receive medical treatment.

    - A son was born to the wife of George Roach at Westport.

    72 YEARS AGO Feb. 8, 1942

    - Mrs. Edith Ellison received word from her son, Vernon, stating he is now in the Engineers Corps, U. S. Army at Coroval Canal Zone, serving as chief personnel officer and likes the experience very much.

    - Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Harrison announce the birth of a son, John Curtis, at the Redwood Coast Hospital February 7th.

A.E.R.T. Will Feature the New MoistureShield Pro Decking Product Line at IBS - January 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Springdale, Ark. (PRWEB) January 28, 2014

Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies, Inc., (A.E.R.T.), the worlds leader in innovative composite decking, is introducing new MoistureShield Pro capstock decking. The new line will be made with the superior manufacturing processes that A.E.R.T. is known for, with an extra layer of protection in a unique cap to increase fade, stain, scratch and slip resistance. The beautiful and durable MoistureShield Pro decking will be featured on MoistureShields booth at the International Builders Show (IBS) in Las Vegas, Nev., February 4 6, 2014 (booth C4543).

MoistureShields Vantage collection has received a tremendous reception across the U.S. and Canada, and this new line will make it possible for our strong brand to reach even further into markets where capstock is becoming the preference, said Brent Gwatney, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for MoistureShield. We at AERT want to be able to fulfill all homeowners decking preferences, whether it be with a natural wood-like composite or the benefits of a lower-maintenance cap.

As with other MoistureShield composite decking products, MoistureShield Pro is made with an exclusive manufacturing process that encapsulates wood fibers in polyethylene plastic, which ensures moisture protection to the core of each board. This allows all MoistureShield boards to be installed on the ground, in the ground or underwater and still be protected by the industry leading lifetime warranty.

The new Pro line adds an extra layer of protection and beauty with its durable cap. The result is deck boards with enhanced fade, stain, slip and scratch resistance that also look beautiful. MoistureShield Pro is also protected by a lifetime warranty and a 25-year fade and stain warranty.

The new product line will be available in 3 variegated colors: Ipe (a red-brown similar to its namesake), Brazilian Chestnut (a rich earthy brown), and Graystone (an opulent gray with cool undertones). Each color board will be available in 12, 16 and 20 lengths, and with coordinating trim boards.

York Region luxury homes feature movie theatres, bowling alleys, more - January 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    YorkRegion.com

Location is the biggest factor for home buyers, but many other things come into consideration.

For the average home, an updated kitchen, spiffy bathroom renovation or new appliances can seal the deal for the owner and agent.

Upgraded amenities can add lustre to homes in York Region where, according to latest MLS indexes, single detached prices average $322,400 in Georgina to $774,000 in Richmond Hill.

    The operative word is average.

When it comes to money-is-no-object, super affluent buyers browsing the rarefied realms of luxury real estate, uber-opulent amenities can be as eye popping as house prices.

In King, where upscale houses have recently sold for as much as $40 million, the included extras often cost as much as the average homeowner can afford as a home, Century 21 Heritage Group Ltd. broker Michele Denniston said.

In the country its all about land, acreage, the King real estate specialist said. Often there are barns, pool houses, outdoor kitchens and out buildings. Some are like second houses.

Sales of posh King properties are brisk, she said.

According to a December RE/MAX report, luxury home sales in the GTA, Canadas largest real estate market, continued to climb in 2013, rising 18 per cent to 1,908 units, setting a new record for activity priced in excess of $1.5 million.

Neighborhood of the week: Foxtail - January 26, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    Pioneers.

That's what Realtor Brian Kleinjans of Northwest Realty Group thinks of when he sells someone a home in Foxtail.

"They're the first ones in this neighborhood," Kleinjans said. "They will set the tone for how it develops."

Hallmark Homes broke ground on Foxtail a year ago, and a third of the 36 lots in Phase 1 are already sold. "The activity is very brisk," he said. "Considering the state of the economy, that's good."

Foxtail is one of the newest developments in Post Falls. Wandering through the quiet neighborhood, gazing at the sweeping prairie and mountain views, you can't help but feel a sense of openness and peace. Although Post Falls continues to expand, the growth is primarily on the west side of Highway 41, whereas Foxtail is to the east. So, the area around it is still relatively undeveloped.

"It has a rural feel, yet it's close to everything," Kleinjans said.

The location is "really advantageous." Although you feel like you're living in the country, downtown Coeur d'Alene, the Valley mall, and Hayden are all 15 minutes away. It's ideal for couples who work in two different locations, Kleinjans said. "They can take Highway 41 to Interstate 90 and turn either left or right." It's close to the high school and existing elementary school (the development's master plan includes another elementary school). And with the improvements planned for Prairie Avenue, access will be even easier (the development is bordered by Prairie to the north.)

He said that there's a good mix of people buying in Foxtail, "retirees and teachers with kids, and everything in between."

The lots vary in size up to 1/3 acre, and are perfect for "baby boomers, empty nesters, and downsizers who want a nice home with nice amenities, but don't want as much yard to maintain any more."

"Housing prices rose 10 percent last year in our area, so houses are worth 10 percent more, as well," Kleinjans said. Housing values increase based on the desirability of a neighborhood. So this is the perfect time to buy in Foxtail and get in on the ground floor, while it is still affordable.
