Chamber to holds its 'Hit the Decks' party on Friday

PORTSMOUTH We're inching ever closer to summer, as evidenced by the Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce's annual Hit the Decks celebration this Friday. The May 16 event is rain or shine and will feature nearly 70 participating businesses, including shops, hotels, attractions and services as well as 40 restaurants. The chamber initiative is sponsored by Samuel Adams and 100.3 WHEB. The celebration begins with a kickoff party at River House Restaurant on Bow Street from 3 to 5 p.m. Valerie Rochon, tourism director for the chamber, said River House will offer specials and giveaways. Sam Adams will give away concert tickets to New England's premier music festival, Boston Calling, while WHEB will give away tickets to events with hard rock band Devour the Day, and for the Portland Sea Dogs. Radio personality Kayla, host of Kayla's Classic Lunchbox on WHEB, will host the event with remote broadcasts.
