Two Alarm Apartment Fire Caused By Barbecue In High Winds Raw Video Puyallup WA
February 16, 1993. This happened at the Faircrest Apartments located at 2202 5th St SW. High winds with a sustained speed of 30MPH+ and higher gusts that evening were causing widespread power outages in the greater Puyallup, Tacoma area. One tenant decided to use his barbecue on his upper level deck. The results would be a wind blown fire that spread to several other decks, destroying several units and damaging several others. Wind blown embers ignited other decks spreading into the overhead. The embers even caused a grass fire that spread to SR512 prompting a short closure by the Washington State Patrol.
