PLYMOUTH By popular demand, the Terryville Lions Club Country Fair this year will feature a Demolition Derby, skillet throwing, and the return of the racing pigs.

The 66th annual fair will take place at the Terryville Fairgrounds on Town Hill Road Friday-Sunday, Aug. 22-24.

Demolition derbies are very popular at a lot of fairs and people were requesting it, said Fair Chairman Tom Zagurski. Its like real like bumper cars where the last one moving wins, he added.

Weve been looking at it for a few years and now that we have a really nice truck pull area we knew that we could fit it in there, he said.

The Lions Club built a truck pull track at the fairgrounds last year, which is approximately 300 feet long and 75 feet wide, with jersey barriers running the length of the track.

Last year the track worked out really great for the Truck Pull on Friday night, and we wanted to find something to put in there for Saturday and Sunday, Zagurski said.

Lions member Steve Daigle found a company to run both the Demolition Derby on Sunday and the FMX freestyle motocross and Quad Wars professional show on the track Saturday night, Zagurski explained.

Participation in the derby will be open to the general public. The entry fee is $30 per driver plus one mechanic.
