Apple has been working to get Cupertino to approve the plans for its massive new spaceship campus. Those plans got the approval last year and word has surfaced that it appears construction is underway. An aerial view of the land where the spaceship campus will sit has hit the web reports 9to5Mac.

The view from the air shows just how massive the campus is. It also clearly shows that demolition is underway to remove the existing buildings on the land and clear the way for Steve Jobs' vision. Jobs presented the pans for the campus himself to the Cupertino City Council back in 2011.

He didn't live to see the demolition start on his dream. Reports indicate that Apple recently constructed a full size mockup of one small section of the building to test construction methods and allow the firm to see what the concrete elements would look like in real life.

The facility is expected to be finished in 2015 or 2016. It appears that a lot of homes and apartments are located right around the Apple campus. The campus will look very much like a park when complete, I wonder if it will increase property values in the area. I also wonder if the facility might drive up rent for nearby homes and apartments. Too bad there is no actual photo of the full size model that was built; it would be cool to see what the building will look like when it is complete. All we have seen so far are renderings.
