TENSION rose again yesterday in Sitio Mahayag, Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City when a demolition team arrived to tear down makeshift dwellings along the bank of Mahiga Creek.

A resident allegedly threw plastic bag containing foul liquid at the members of the demolition team and police officers. But no one was reported injured.

The demolition team arrived past 1 a.m. with personnel from the Special Weapons and Tactics, Subangdaku Police Station, Bureau of Fire Protection and paramedics.

SFO4 Teresito Mata said that some residents protested at first, raising their voices at members of the demolition team, but later agreed to take their belonging to the two city vehicles.

Temporary

The vehicles brought the residents and their belongings to the 6.5-hectare relocation site in Barangay Paknaan where the City has set up bunkhouses as temporary shelters.

The demolition team left the area at 3 p.m.

Last Nov. 13, clashes between residents and members of the demolition team also marred efforts to clear the riverbank of makeshift dwellings.
