Labor officials intervened in the demolition of houses in Barangay Apas, Cebu City after learning there were minors in the wrecking crew.

Weve heard of minors being used by criminal syndicates as drug couriers because a law shields them from criminal liability.

But a minor under a court sheriffs employ? It could never be par for the course.

There were reports of looting in some of houses being demolished in Barangay Apas. As a resident aptly put it, It was painful. First our house got demolished, then someone stole from us.

Members of the demolition crew may have thought they were marauders in ancient wars out to pillage and plunder.

Someone should remind them there are no spoils in enforcing a court order.

Cebu City Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Soliver Peras of Branch 10 has ordered a ceasefire in the demolition of homes in Barangay Apas.

When a ceasefire is declared in a war, hostilities are effectively stopped. So, that means thered be no demolition for now.
