Jason Maguire's mount soon had a sizeable advantage and jumped fluently from the off, pinging the Railway fences and finishing full of running despite his eagerness to get on with things in the early stages.

Sent off the 3/10 favourite, Donald McCain's eight-year-old - runner-up in the Champion Hurdle and winner of top events over timber and on the Flat - finished 14 lengths clear of Thanks For Coming.

The eight-year-old was cut to 8/1 from 10s for the Arkle with Sky Bet.

Richard Horner of Sky Bet said: "Overturn has been trimmed to 8/1 from 10/1 after an impressive fencing debut at Sandown.

"He should have beaten the three rivals in that style but he has now proved he can jump a fence well and this 164 rated hurdler is now a clear second favourite behind Simonsig."
