Guy Bambury, from Milton, was recently made redundant and has decided to set up his own DIY firm.

But Bamburys Handyman Services is reserving five to 10 slots a week to do little bits and pieces to help those who struggle to carry out necessary maintenance around the home.

He said: Im a bit long in the tooth and I just wanted to put something back into the community.

Within two days of the initiative being launched online, Mr Bambury had agreed to help several people with small DIY jobs.

He said whether it is fixing a squeaky back door or repairing a garden gate he is willing to offer his services for free to those unable to be able to carry out the work themselves.
