Created with MicroStation http://www.Bentley.com This video clip applies Fermat #39;s Principle to a home wiring problem. The shortest path from an electric outlet - through a door frame - to a refrigerator in another room is to be found. The problem is first reduced to analogous geometry in optics -- treating the two end points as source of light and object. The door frame itself then plays the role of a mirror!
