Square Cash for businesses follows on the same service for individuals rolled out in 2013.

Square wants to help your business ditch checks and get paid even quicker.

The mobile payment company on Monday rolled out Square Cash for businesses in the U.S. after first introducing the service for individuals back in 2013. Square Cash essentially makes transferring funds as easy as sending an email.

"Individuals aren't the only ones who don't like checks," Square Cash lead Brian Grassadonia, wrote in a blog post. "They're inconvenient for businesses too, whether you're a landlord, a lawyer, a dogwalker, or an interior decorator. We think everyone should have access to a fast, affordable way to get paid, without the inconvenience or lack of security of cash and paper checks."

Since business-owners may not want to give away personal information like their email address and phone number, however, Square also introduced $Cashtags, or unique identifiers that let businesses get paid privately and securely with Square Cash. Anyone can set up a personalized $Cashtag like $ErinHills or $SunsetPhotography to get paid with Square Cash, either from the Cash app or on the Web.

Square said that a number of artists, musicians, and social media personalities are already accepting payments with their $Cashtags, including New York City-based artist Curtis Kulig, known for his iconic 'Love Me' campaign, and Joy Cho, a Pinterest user and designer with over 13 million followers. Nonprofits are also using their $Cashtags for fundraising, including Wikipedia, (RED), Khan Academy, and The USO.

"We think $Cashtags are a fantastic marketing service that lets your customers, donors, fans, or even friends pay you quickly and securely," Grassadonia said.

Anyone can claim a $Cashtag by downloading the app or visiting cash.me. For more on $Cashtags, check out the video below. Also see PCMag's full review of Square.
