African American Interior Designer Launches Do-It-Yourself Online Interior Design Service

Houston, TX (October 14, 2013) -- Cathleen Williams is the creator and principal designer of House Candy, a boutique interior design firm located in Houston, TX. She is a cum laude graduate of Howard University with a degree in interior design and a minor in architecture, and she is an Allied Member of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers).

Designing model homes for new home builders has dominated the majority of Williams' work over the past 25 years. She was even once featured in Uptown Magazine after the writer walked into one of her impeccably designed model homes and was told by the sales person that the designer was African American.

Throughout the years of designing models, Williams found that potential homeowners would often walk through her models wanting to know how they could make their own homes just as beautiful. More times than not, many of them were not able to afford her services. She soon realized that there was a segment of the market that was being over looked.

Williams' philosophy has always been that good design should not just be something that is only available to the wealthy, but that everyone deserves to live in a functional and beautiful space, regardless of budget. So she decided to create her very own Online Interior Design Service, a do-it-yourself interior design package, to fill this void.

A customer can consult with her via email and phone to design their rooms. After the design has been finalized they will receive a digital design package with all of the selections for the room, a concept board, a scaled floor plan, a shopping list, and detailed instructions on how to put everything together.
