November 24, 2012 Dalton designer to address women's network

On Friday, local businesswoman and nationally acclaimed interior designer Kellie Smith will speak to Stilettos and Grace (SGN) members about Fearless Design.

Often, people are overwhelmed by all of the decisions involved in decorating their homes and commercial spaces.Smith removes the fear, and she helps clients focus on creating spaces that suit their personality and their lifestyle.

This Dalton native developed her professional career in both the retail and the design industries.As a carpet designer and colorist, her creative talents blossomed early, and her designs were integrated into the decor of office buildings, hotel chains and commercial establishments all over the world. She later expanded her talents to the retail gift and home accessory market.

She formalized her training by earning her Residential Planning degree from The Art Institute.Her studio, Kellie Smith Design Studio, is located in downtown Dalton. She now focuses on residential and commercial design, textile design and furniture design.At the SGN meeting, Smith will share some of the design tips she uses to transform a space into a unique and beautiful one.

For this meeting, SGN members and guests are asked to donate their gently-used purses.The handbags will be sold at the Power of the Purse fundraiser for the Providence Ministries Womens Center for Recovery.The meeting is free to SGN members and free to guests who donate a gently-used purse.

Stilettos and Grace is a new network for women founded by businesswoman Tangela W. Johnson. SGN is a division of the North Georgia Center for Educational Excellence (NGCEE). SGN gives positive, like-minded women the opportunity to share ideas, network, and to do business together.The organizations mission is to help women become more effective in life, leadership and business by building a community of women who are courageous enough to live out their personal vision.

The meeting starts at 11:45 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m.; lunch will be provided, and the meeting will be downtown at the NGCEE office at 113 W. Gordon St. (next to Stage 123). Cost is free for SGN members and guests who bring a gently-used purse and $15 for guests who do not bring a gently-used purse.
