Winter is the time when families spend more time together in their homes and especially in their kitchens. The kitchen is the center focus of activity; cooking, eating, homework, game night and so much more.

With all the activities in the kitchen and the winter promotions of some of our favorite cabinet makers, it is a great time to think about remodeling the kitchen. But how to start such a project can be overwhelming.

The renovation of a kitchen is not a good place to cut budgets. A quality kitchen renovation is one area that will increase the value of the home. But there are ways to keep the quality and still save a lot of money.

We asked the professional kitchen designer for DirectBuy of Indianapolis, Holly Deniham to give some steps for remodeling a kitchen.

Her first suggestion is to dream and gather.

Dream about what to change in the current kitchen and what to keep in the kitchen, make a list.

Gather pictures of kitchens using; magazines, websites, pinterest, visit home shows and open houses and then divide the pictures into two sets; must have and would like to have. This will be important to know when it comes to working on the budget.
