Local Orlando Baptist Church announced that it will be breaking ground on a new 18, 828 square foot auditorium on January 12, 2014. Church officials are expecting construction to begin this week and finishing up before the end of 2014.
This new auditorium comes at a perfect time for the local church as they are celebrating their 25 year anniversary this year. The church currently has many outreach ministries helping the local communities of Central Florida.
The new auditorium will permit Starlight Baptist Church to hold hundreds of new members, which is much needed as this local church is at maximum capacity with its current facilities. In exchange, Starlight will be able to expand its growth, as will the Outreach Ministries of Central Florida.
More information is expected to be released following completion of the new auditorium.
Starlight has seen tremendous growth in recent years. They now have seven bus routes including a homeless ministry route, van route and a senior saints route. They host a Church Efficiency Conference, Youth Conference, Super Rally and a Wild Game Dinner that draws large crowds from across the State.

Cypress, CA Located in the heart of Wall Street, Trinity Church was the first Anglican church in Manhattan. Founded in 1697, the iconic church has a rich history, including several signers of the Declaration of Independence (Alexander Hamilton is one) being laid to rest in its burial grounds. Aiming to preserve its 17th century roots while using 21st century technology to spread the message of the church, Trinity began planning the construction of a new control room early last year. The new control room was completed last month and is centered around a FOR-A 2 M/E HVS-390HS video production switcher.
The switcher first caught the attention of the house of worships director of media, production and operations, William Jarrett, at NAB 2013. The HVS-390HS switcher is a perfect fit for our church, explained Jarrett. We appreciate the amount of inputs it offers and its optional video outputs. A frame synchronizer with every channel was also a big draw to us. We found that theres an elegance about it that inherently made sense. We needed a system that was easy to use, and the flow of the switcher is simple for our operators to understand.
In addition to using its video technology to perform IMAG (image magnification) production during Trinitys services, the parish webcasts all of its Sunday morning and weekday services on its website, reaching viewers worldwide. Concerts from its Grammy-nominated choir, conferences, and other special and live events are also webcast. The first major production in the new studio was Handels Messiah, a widespread oratorio house of worship Christmas tradition that was first performed in the New World at Trinity Church.
The new control room was commissioned and blessed on December 8. The event was webcast on Trinitys website, and can be viewed online here. Jarrett estimates that the switcher will be involved in 450-500 events throughout the course of a year.
In building a new control room, we made a commitment to doing it right and designing a system thats future resistant, said Jarrett. We live in a multi-platform world, and we created our control room and associated workflow with that as a focus. Its modular in design. Our technology is designed to ease the production process and make it more streamlined, and we have the ability to swap out a piece of equipment without that affecting everything else. Using high-quality technology to convey the mission of Trinity is critical to us, and FOR-As switcher is an integral part of our new control room.

BAKERSFIELD, CA- It has been in the works for years, and this weekend, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church will break ground on a permanent site. They say it's the first new Catholic Church built in our area in more than 40 years.
The site is at the corner of Riena and Old Farm roads. Although It's just an empty lot now, there are big plans the property.
Msgr. Perry Kavookjian said, "I'm ready to have our own building that we can settle into, call home."
For nearly six years parishioners at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church have been going to mass at Frontier High School. Every Sunday, volunteers transform the school's theater into a church; hauling the alter, sound system, podium and other items needed for mass.
"People have been very enthusiastic and very supportive, definitely very generous," said Kavookjian.
He says with the expanding population, there is a need for another Catholic Church.
Kavookjian said, "Chances are, if you don't get there early enough, you're going to sit outside, or stand up. We've known for a while that some of those churches are bursting at the seams, which is a good problem to have."
Over the years, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton's congregation has grown to 1,000 families.
"Definitely the need is here and people have been waiting a while for a church to be built in this area," he said.
Soon, they'll have a place to call their own. The church will break ground on a 24 acre lot Saturday, beginning the first of three phases of construction.

The new eight-story apartment building at the corner of Market and Dolores streets hints at what we'll see across San Francisco as construction cranes make way for finished structures: an abundance of careful planning and a shortage of architectural nerve.
On the ground there's a high-ceilinged Whole Foods Market and a wide sidewalk that doubles as an urbane mini-park. But the building above is a procession of compromises, an earnest collage of scales and skins rather than a distinctive work of architecture that stands on its own.
The result is a plus for a corner that's a gateway to the Castro to the west and the Mission to the south. What's missing is that hard-to-define extra spark - the comfortable confidence that once defined Bay Area urban neighborhoods and now is frowned on more often than not.
If nothing else, the finished product dubbed 38 Dolores emerged relatively coherent from a process that included meetings between the developer, Prado Group, and an array of neighborhood groups after a plan for the larger Upper Market area was approved in 2007. There now are a dozen mixed-use buildings along Market Street west of Van Ness Avenue that are recently finished, under construction or in the works.
This one commands notice because of the prominence of the block-long site, at the crest where Dolores Street's march of palm trees concludes and Market begins its long descent to the Ferry Building.
With no shortage of design cues to choose from, Prado Group and BAR Architects chose a contemporary look and then adapted it to the existing contexts on each side.
The building is eight stories tall along Market, while on Dolores the top two stories are pulled back to reduce the building's heft. The south wing along 14th Street drops to four stories, an abrupt transition to the older residential buildings across the way.
At each turn, the architectural details of 38 Dolores are tweaked as well. The Market Street facade has glassy, right-angled bays that are detailed in crisp metal. The stretch along Dolores has thinner bays and a coat of medium-brown brick. The 14th Street wing wears bricks of a light brown hue and adds a skin of faux wooden slats.
"We really felt the character should be different on Market Street than it was on Dolores, and different again on 14th Street," said David Israel, a principal at BAR, the design architect. William McDonough + Partners was involved in earlier schematic designs for the project. "Each context is somewhat different."
The most memorable move, though, is the one that breaks free of context - a sharp prow that extends 25 feet above the Whole Foods entrance where Market and Dolores meet.

Life is about to return to normal on Londons RichmondSt.N., where construction of a $55-million apartment building has impeded drivers and pedestrians for half a year.
Construction of the 19-storey apartment tower, on a narrow site, saw the contractor close and use the westerly, southbound lanes since early last summer.
The roadway occupation was expected to end in November, before the snow flew, but that was extended because of delays.
The road should be reopened to four lanes by the end of next week as long as the weather co-operates, said Doug MacRae, the citys manager of transportation planning.
Occupying city roadways doesnt come without cost for developers: Depriving drivers of the 7,000 sq. ft. of asphalt came to about $12,000.
Application and processing fees added another $400, on top of the building permit fees of more than $200,000.
Every effort is made to reduce and minimize impacts and disruption to the public, said Lou Pompilii, of city halls building compliance division.
The nature of this development and site restricts construction access to the front.
The developer, he noted, also had to:
London Hydro will be able to remove old utility poles to allow the closed portion of the road to reopen after Rogers moves cables from the old poles to new ones Jan.15, said Hydro spokesperson Nancy Hutton.

A Jacksonville City Council panel approved a scaled-back plan Thursday night to redevelop a landmark apartment building and business area in Avondale.
The vote sets the stage for final council action next week on plans to rebuild St. Johns Village Center by Fishweir Creek.
While notably smaller than developer Chase Properties once proposed, even residents who supported the plan still voiced reservations.
Its still going to be a big building, Riverside-Avondale Preservation chairman Jonathan Oliff told the council Land Use and Zoning Committee about the main building that would replace the 60-year-old Commander Apartments along St. Johns Avenue.
Chase had initially filed plans for a 339-unit apartment building, though company owner Mike Balanky said from the beginning he expected a smaller project.
The rezoning bill (2013-342) approved Thursday called for construction of 250 apartments, along with retail area and restaurant space seating up to 200 customers.
A marina and boat slips once planned had been scrapped, leaving just a kayak launch.
That wasnt good enough to ease some worries.
It would change the essential character of the surrounding neighborhood, argued Jack Swiadek, who was president of the Fishweir Neighborhood Association until Dec. 31.
Balanky told Councilman Jim Love, whose district includes the area, that he couldnt shrink the apartment totals any further. He said that talks with neighborhood groups, while stretched over months, had made the overall project better.
