Left untreated, termites can literally eat up the equity in your home. According to the National Pest Management Association, termites cost Americans more than $5 billion in damages each year. Thats more than fire and flooding combined. And their destruction knows no bounds because any home, regardless of its construction type, can offer the ideal combination of warmth, moisture, and food for a termite attack. Additionally, many homeowners insurance plans wont cover any of the damage. Not having protection can lead to problems when selling a home, since many lending institutions require a termite bond before lending money to home buyers.
Unless there are signs of an active termite infestation, you probably wont detect termites because they forage and hang out hidden from view. Learn more about the telltale signs of termite infestations and the damage they can cause to your home. Visit our Termite Infestation Threat page or our Risk Aeras: Termite Infestation for some additional tips.
Orkin specialists are extremely qualified to help protect homes against termites. Our specialists have undergone extensive training with some of the most advanced equipment in the industry.Because effective treatment requires specialized tools such as hammer drills, sub slab injectors, rodding devices, and other equipment, only highly trained specialists should be trusted.
Orkins proprietary method for keeping termites in their place consists of three important steps.

Design And Build Your Own DIY Automatic Lawn Sprinkler System
Even the most adventurous do it yourself home landscapers are a bit intimidated by the thought of installing their own sprinkler / irrigation systems. I can understand this. It does seem a bit technical and involved.
However, with the free and cheap sprinkler information that's available to you, there's really no reason why you shouldn't tackle the technical side of installing your own system.
Your only real consideration should be the labor involved. Mainly, using a trenching machine. While you can rent a trencher at your local rental outlet, these machines are heavy and require some strength to move them around. In loose soils they have a tendancy to get stuck and require two people to get them out. If possible, get a four wheel drive trencher. Ask your rental agent if they have one.
As for the technical stuff that you're probably looking for?
While I've designed and built many sprinkler / irrigation systems, I think that creating a high quality free do it yourself design tutorial is better left to someone that's already done it.
Irrigation tutorials.com is by far one of the best free information sites on the net. Using the site should leave you with very little question on how to design and build your own irrigation system. You'll also discover more resources and sprinkler material deals in The DIY Landscape Design Directory.
I hope this helps.

Septic and sewer cleaning services
Your sewer is backed up, and you can't use the bathrooms in your home. Who do you call to clean out your drain lines? You could call a plumber, but it's a better idea to call a sewer cleaning professional, because they will have the right equipment and knowledge to clean out your sewer and get your drain lines running normally as quickly as possible.
Advertising Links for Sewer Cleaning
Chances are that if your sewer is backed up, it is plugged with debris, or even broken or cracked. This can happen for a variety of reasons, from tree roots growing into the drain line and blocking it, to debris inside the pipe that is plugging it. You need a sewer professional with the right sewer cleaning equipment to clear out your drain and repair it, if necessary. Often, plumbers don't carry all that equipment on their trucks, so they might not have everything they need to help you right away.
In addition, many sewer drain cleaning companies offer camera services. They can put a camera down into your sewer line to see what is blocking the line, so they know exactly where to attack the problem. This means the sewer cleaning professional won't have to dig up your entire sewer line to deal with the problem, and that saves both your landscaping and your wallet. It's fairly common to have blockages in a sewage line, so don't worry if it happens to you. Just call a reputable sewer line cleaning service as quickly as possible, and you should be back to normal in no time.
No matter how good you are about taking care of your septic tank, sooner or later you're going to need a septic tank cleaning. Sometimes, the septic tank fills up too fast and needs to be drained, and other times you may have something blocking the drain line or the tank itself, and this means it's time for a septic clean.
Be sure to call a septic cleaning professional that you can trust to do the job right. A thorough septic cleaning should include not just pumping out the tank, but scrubbing the sides and bottom of the tank, replacing the tank lids and refilling in the dirt and landscaping over the tanks. In addition, a good septic tank cleaning includes an inspection of the leach field. If a leach field is deteriorating, they can let you know, because that can be a reason septic tanks back up.
So, hire a professional sewer or septic cleaner for your next backup, and rely on experts who know just what they need to do to fix your system quickly and efficiently.

A well-planned room addition can enhance the style of your home as well as provide newfound space, comfort and livability. There are many reasons for adding living space to your home. Perhaps your growing family needs another bedroom or bathroom. Maybe you are starting a business and need a home office. Or maybe your spouse has been dreaming of a beautiful new kitchen! Whatever the reason, an addition to your home may solve your living space requirements. As you plan your addition project, it is important to ensure that the construction of your room is safe, meets State and local laws, and is carefully estimated to fit within your budget. Many homeowners hire a residential architect to help them through the project design and construction process.
Adding on to a house can be disruptive to your life, your household operations, your personal finances, and your family relationships. But the design and construction process can also be exciting and gratifying as you see your plans come to fruition! Furthermore, you may realize substantial savings by building a room addition instead of relocating and incurring real estate transaction costs.
The two basic types of room additions include horizontal additions and vertical additions. If you have space and necessary clearances on your property, a horizontal addition to the main living area of your house can greatly increase its comfort level and usability. Horizontal room additions generally require new footings and foundations to support the new space. If you have a small lot, you may be limited to adding an upstairs bedroom or bathroom. This could involve raising your roofline or extending your roof with a shed or gable dormer. If your budget does not permit an expensive addition, you may be able to add a screened porch or sunroom more economically. These "3-season" rooms may not require central heating or air conditioning.
On RoomAdditions.us, you can find step-by-step guidelines for adding space to your home, including design options and planning considerations as well as building permit requirements, budgeting, and project management. The site also features access to selected home remodeling services, home improvement products, and addition planning resources.

A room addition may seem like a win-win solution to all of your space problems. But as with anything, this solution does have its downsides. Learn the 7 rules of building a room addition, and save yourself time, money, and heartache: Exhaust All Other Options First Room additions should not be your first option; they should be your last. Due to the price and complexity of building a room addition, it is in your best interests to exhaust every possible solution to your space and living issuesbefore undertaking this project. Get the Contractor Right With other home remodeling projects, you take less of a hit if you get the contractor wrong. Was it a sloppy paint job in the family room? Did your new crown molding fall down? Bad thing thereand you have our utmost sympathiesbut youll get over it. Hound the contractor, sue him, get a new contractor, or do it yourself. Its fixable.
But with a room addition, there is far less wiggle room. The costs are high, timeframes are extended, and the willingness of the contractor to come back and fix what he did wrong will be limited. So, you owe it to yourselfand to that huge home equity loan youll be taking outto get the contractor right. And this means
Get three estimates. Average them out. Then get seven or eight more estimates. Now calculate the average of all ten or eleven. Chances are good that your average estimate spread out over ten individual estimates will be much lower than your previous one.
