Lawsuit filed over Washington County remodeling project that got demolished

    - September 28, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

A building that was the subject of a five-figure remodeling project was razed by Washington County's redevelopment agency by the order of North Franklin officials, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court today.

John S. Bernett and his wife, Kimberly, who own Tri-State Restoration, were fixing a building on Mill Street, and had put $42,000 into it, according to the complaint.

On March 28, Mr. Bernett arrived to do some work on the property, only to find that "the building was gone and had been leveled and the land had been graded," his attorneys wrote in the complaint.

He claims that the taxes were paid and electrical service was on.

He called the township, which blamed the Washington County Redevelopment Authority, according to the complaint. The authority said that the township provided it with the address and information justifying demolition, the plaintiffs' attorneys wrote.

North Franklin solicitor Tom Lonich said he hadn't seen the lawsuit and could not comment.

Stephen Wiencek, assistant executive director of the authority, declined to speak to the specifics of the lawsuit.

He said that municipalities identify buildings that are in violation of codes, and the authority uses federal funds to demolish them.

The Bernetts allege that their rights to equal protection were violated, and demand compensatory and punitive damages.

Carter's My Plumber, a Plumbing Contractor in Indianapolis, Advises Homeowners about the Lead-Free Government Mandate …

    - September 28, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) September 27, 2013

Carter's My Plumber warns homeowners to not use hot water out of the tap for food preparation or drinking because it may contain lead.

It's tempting to run hot tap water into a pot to cook pasta or rice since it boils faster. Unfortunately it is bad for the human body. The reason being is lead.

    Hot water leaches lead:

Hot water is more likely to leach the heavy metal from a home's plumbing pipes. In 1986 using solder for pipe joints was banned, however, brass plumbing parts might contain a bit of lead as well. Today plumbing parts legally considered lead-free may contain up to 8% lead. This means chances are the average home doesn't have lead-free plumbing.

Lead is harmful to the human body:

So what's the big deal? It has been proven that too much lead in the body can cause serious damage to the brain, kidneys, nervous system, and red blood cells. It's especially bad for pregnant women and children. Human consumption should be limited to a weighted average of .25% for fixtures and .20% for solder or flux for plumbing.

The EPA does not recommend using hot water for cooking or drinking:

The EPA does not recommend using water taken from the hot tap for cooking or drinking, and especially not for making baby formula. If hot water is needed, draw water from the cold tap and heat it on the stove. If a faucet hasn't been used for at least six hours, "flush" all the water that has been sitting in the pipes. This procedure can take anywhere from five seconds to two minutes. It is "flushed" when the water stops getting colder.

    New federal law bans lead:

Plumber discovers cash stash in Dublin mansion

    - September 28, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

Around 200,000 euros have been found in the bathroom of a Dublin mansion formerly owned by a bust property entrepreneur who was once a member of the IRA.

One bundle of around 140,000 euros ($190,000) was found by a plumber working on the property on one of the city's most desirable roads. Hilary Hynes, the house's new owner who bought it for the knockdown price of 2.6 million euros in May, reported the find. Officers working for Ireland's Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) have subsequently discovered a further 60,000 euros in the property.

Irish Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Enda Kenny said to the Irish Independent: "I think all of that smacks of what happened during the so-called Tiger years, when you had profligacy and greed and money sloshing around in so many places that this is further evidence of what happened."

The Irish property bubble burst during the credit crisis, leading to the Irish government bailing out the country's heavily indebted banks. This eventually led to Ireland itself being bailed out by the International Monetary Fund and its fellow euro zone countries.

The property was previously owned by Tom McFeely, an ex-Irish Republican Army hunger striker who made and lost a fortune in Ireland's property market. He owned the house, which was once valued at 15 million euros, since 2001, before the introduction of the euro currency. However, he had to move out of it after defaulting on the mortgage, which was then taken over by Ireland's National Assets Management Agency (Nama).

McFeely spent 53 days on hunger strike in 1980 while a member of the IRA imprisoned for attempted murder of police, possession of weapons and robbery. He built his fortune as a property developer following his release in 1989.

His business was hit in October 2011 by a safety scare at one of his developments, an apartment block called Priory Hall, which allegedly breached fire safety regulations. Residents have been moved out of the block by a court order, although the dispute has not yet concluded.

    (Read more: Ireland outlook improves)

The buyer of the property, Hynes, is married to Rory Godson, an ex-Sunday Times journalist who now runs Powerscourt, a PR agency which acts for many Irish companies in London. Godson was not immediately available for comment Friday.

InventHelp® Client Patents “Outdoor Solar Light Holder” – Invention Could Conveniently Mount Outdoor Lighting

    - September 28, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) September 27, 2013

InventHelp, Americas leading inventor service company, announces that one of its clients, an inventor from Florida, has designed a device that could conveniently mount outdoor lighting on a pool enclosure or fence. This invention is patented and a prototype is available.

The Outdoor Solar Light Holder would position solar-powered outdoor lighting above the ground so that its eye-level. Eliminating the need for tiki torches or other outdoor lighting, the invention could be positioned at any height. Easy to install, the Outdoor Solar Light Holder would offer a convenient and easy way to mount outdoor lighting.

The frame would be formed from durable wire, and would feature a horizontally-oriented arm at the top and bottom. Each of the arms would include a 1-inch ring. The vertically-oriented back section would feature two -inch rings. To mount a light on a fence, the individual would fasten the back section to the fence by inserting screws through the -inch rings. They would then slip the light fixture easily into the 1-inch rings.

I didnt want to place outdoor lighting in the ground around my pool, said the inventor. I created this device so that I could mount the lighting at eye level.

InventHelp is attempting to submit the invention to companies for review. If substantial interest is expressed, the company will attempt to negotiate for a sale or royalties for the inventor. For more information, telephone Dept. 10-TPA-1538 at (800) 851-6030.
